Eligibility Criteria (Age and Educational Qualification)
Age Limit:
PGTs, TGTs, Physical Training Instructor, Music Teacher, PRT, Assistant Teacher, Lab Assistant/ School – 18 to 48 Years as on 01st Jan 2025 i.e. candidate must be born between 02 Jan 1977 and 01 Jan 2007.
Chief Law Assistant – 18 to 43 Years as on 01st Jan 2025 i.e. candidate must be born between 02 Jan 1982 and 01 Jan 2007.
Scientific Supervisor and Scientific Assistant/ Training – 18 to 38 Years as on 01st Jan 2025 i.e. candidate must be born between 02 Jan 1987 and 01 Jan 2007.
Junior Translator/ Hindi, Senior Publicity Inspector and Staff and Welfare Inspector – 18 to 36 Years as on 01st Jan 2025 i.e. candidate must be born between 02 Jan 1989 and 01 Jan 2007.
Public Prosecutor – 18 to 35 Years as on 01st Jan 2025 i.e. candidate must be born between 02 Jan 1990 and 01 Jan 2007.
Librarian and Lab Assistant Grade III – 18 to 33 Years as on 01st Jan 2025 i.e. candidate must be born between 02 Jan 1992 and 01 Jan 2007.
The above age limits include a relaxation of 03 years in upper age as a one-time measure due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Relaxation in upper age limit for SC, ST, OBC, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD and other categories is applicable as per Govt rules.
Educational Qualification:
Post Graduate Teacher (Commerce, Hindi, Political Science, Bengali, Biology, Maths, Chemistry, Economics, English, Geography, History, Home Science, Physics, Sociology, Physical Education and Computer Science) – Master Degree with atleast 50% marks in aggregate in respective subject and BEd or equivalent degree from recognised University with proficiency in teaching in Hindi/ English medium. Knowledge of computer applications is desirable.
Scientific Supervisor – Second Class Masters Degree in Psychology or Physiology and 02 years experience in Administration of Psychological Tests of Mental abilities and Personality. OR 02 years research in Work Psychology. OR 02 years experience in Developing Training Module or Conducting Training Programme.
Trained Graduate Teacher (Drawing, Arts, Biology, English, Geography, Hindi, Maths, Maths and Science, Music, PCB, PCM, Sanskrit, Science, Computer Science, Social Science, Home Science, Hindi, Craft, Assamese and History) – Graduation (in respective subject) and 02-year Diploma in Elementary education OR Graduation (in respective subject) with atleast 50% marks and BEd OR BElEd OR BA/BScEd or BAEd/BScEd. Pass in the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET)
Chief Law Assistant – A University Degree in Law with 3 years standing practice as a Pleader at Bar.
Public Prosecutor – Graduate with Bachelor degree in Law from recognized University and with five year standing as an advocate at Bar.
Physical Training Instructor – Graduate with Bachelors in Physical Education (BPEd) or its equivalent. Competency in imparting Physical Education in English medium.
Scientific Assistant (Training) – Second Class Masters Degree in Psychology with 01 year experience in Administration of Psychological tests.
Junior Translator (Hindi) – Master’s Degree or equivalent in Hindi or English with English or Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as a medium of examination at Degree level. Recognized Diploma/ Certificate Course in translation from Hindi to English and vice-versa or 02 years experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice-versa.
Senior Publicity Inspector – Degree from recognized University and Diploma in Public Relations/ Advertising/ Journalism/ Mass Communication from a recognized institution/ University.
Staff and Welfare Inspector – Graduation plus Diploma in Labour/ Social Welfare or Diploma in Labour Laws or LLB with papers in Labour Laws or PG Diploma/ MBA in Personnel Management or PG Diploma in Human Resource Management.
Librarian – Bachelor of Library Science (04 years course) OR Graduation with professional qualification of Diploma in Librarianship.
Music Teacher – B.A. Degree with Music, as one of the subject from a recognized University OR 12th/ equivalent with Sangeet Visharad/ Sangeet Vid/ Sangeet Prabhakar Examination/ Sangeet Ratan Diploma.
Primary Teacher (English, Maths, Science, Bengali, Hindi and Tamil) – 12th Pass/ equivalent with atleast 50% marks plus 02-year Diploma in Elementary Education or B.El.Ed OR Graduation plus 02-year Diploma in Elementary Education (DElEd) or BEd. Pass in the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET).

Selection Process, CBT and Exam Syllabus
The recruitment process for selection of RRB Ministerial and Isolated Category posts consists of Single stage CBT, Performance test/ Teaching skill test, Translation test (as applicable) and Document verification/ Medical examination as given in detail below:
Computer Based Test (CBT)
Firstly, all eligible candidates will have to undergo Single Stage Computer Based Test (CBT) on respective date, time and venue as given in e-call letter (admit card). The CBT will be of 90 Minutes duration and will consist of an Objective Type paper of 100 questions (1 mark each). 1/3 marks will be deducted as negative marking for every wrong answer marked by candidates.
- Professional Ability: 50 Questions (50 Marks)
- General Awareness: 15 Questions (15 Marks)
- General Intelligence and Reasoning: 15 Questions (15 Marks)
- Mathematics: 10 Questions (10 Marks)
- General Science: 10 Questions (10 Marks)
Minimum 40% marks (30% marks for OBC/SC and 25% marks for ST candidates) will be mandatory to qualify the CBT.
CBT Exam Syllabus:
Mathematics – Number systems, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM and HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square Root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern.
General Intelligence and Reasoning – Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision Making, Similarities and Differences, Analytical reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions etc.
General Awareness – Knowledge of Current affairs, Indian geography, culture and history of India including freedom struggle, Indian Polity and constitution, Indian Economy, Environmental issues concerning India and the World, Sports, General scientific and technological developments etc.
General Science – Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences (up to 10th Standard CBSE syllabus).
Teaching Skill/ Performance Test
The teaching skill test will be based on Teaching Ability, Teaching Methodology, Content Expertise, Appropriateness of material, Incorporation of recent development in the discipline, Communication skill, Presentation skill, Classroom management skill, Understanding of subject matter, Problem solving ability, Decision making, Creativity, Leadership and Motivation quality.
Candidates will be asked to teach some topics of their subject using power point presentation or any other teaching aid. The skill test will be of maximum 150 Marks and 15 to 30 Minutes duration as decided by the Committee. There will not be any minimum qualifying marks for Skill Test. However, weightage of Skill test will be 15% of total marks.
Performance Test – The test will be of maximum 100 Marks. There will not be any minimum qualifying marks for the Performance test. However, weightage of Performance test will be 25% of total marks.
Music Teacher, Trained Graduate Teacher/ Music may be adjudged on the basis of skill of singing, playing the various instrumental music, Presentation Skill, Coordination, Expression, Energy level, Rhythm, Experimentation with art forms, imagination and innovation and Artistic temperament.
Trained Graduate Teacher/ Craft, Trained Graduate Teacher/ Drawing may be adjudged on performance of art forms/ paintings/ sketches/ crafts, innovative and creative approach, Aesthetic sensibilities, Observation skill, interpretation and Originality, Correlation with real life, Experimentation with different art Modes and mediums, Proportion in size and clarity and importance of colour, balance and brightness.
Document Verification
Based on the performance in CBT and Performance/ Teaching skill test, Translation test (as applicable), candidates equal to the number of vacancies will be called for Document Verification (DV) as per their merit and options. Candidates will have to submit the following original documents along with 02 sets of self-attested photocopies at the time of DV:
- Matriculation/ High School Examination Certificate or Equivalent certificate as Proof for Date of Birth.
- 10+2/ Intermediate/ Higher Secondary/ PUC (as applicable).
- Diploma/ Master Degree/ Degree/ PG Diploma/ MBA/ Craftsmanship Certificate/ TET (as applicable).
- SC/ ST/ OBC/ EWS certificate in the prescribed format (as applicable).
- Income Certificate for Waiving Examination Fee for Economically Backward Classes.
- Minority Community declaration on Non-judicial Stamp Paper for minority candidates.
- Original discharge certificate and self-declaration for Ex-servicemen.
- Medical Certificate for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).
- NOC to be submitted by serving employees.
- Gazette notification and/or any Legal document in case of formal change of name.
Final selection of candidates will be based on passing medical examination, verification of educational & category (caste) certificates and verification of antecedents/ character.

Application form, Important Dates and Notification
Eligible and interested candidates are required to submit online application form for the RRB Railway Teacher Recruitment and Other Vacancies through the website rrbapply.gov.in up to 06th Feb 2025.
Before applying online, keep ready a valid Email ID, Mobile number, Aadhaar number, Educational qualification details and scanned copies of color photograph (40 to 70 KB) & signature (30 to 70 KB) in JPEG format and SC/ST Certificate (up to 500 KB) in PDF format.
Candidates are required to apply to only one RRB and submit one application only to the selected RRB for all its notified posts in this notification. To apply online for the RRB Teacher Recruitment, follow the important steps as given below:
Registration – Firstly, you will have to ‘Create an Account’ on the RRB portal (if not already created). Submit the registration form with the required details (Name, Date of Birth, Father’s name, Mother’s Name, Aadhar number, mobile number, email-id etc). After the registration, note down and preserve the username and password for further requirements.
Application form – Now you have to login to the portal using your username & password and proceed with the online application for the desired RRB. Submit personal details, educational qualification, preferences, other details and upload documents. On submitting application details you will be directed to the payment page and then complete the fee payment process using Debit Card/ Credit Card/ Net Banking/ UPI.
In the last part of application form, provide details of Educational Qualification, choice of Exam language (Hindi, English, Urdu, Tamil, Telugu etc), Bank Account details for Refund of exam fee etc, and then upload your color photograph, signature and caste certificate (SC/ST).
After successful submission of online application, take a printout of the online application form for reference/ record.
Examination fee:
GEN/ OBC Category – Rs 500/-
SC/ ST/ Ex-Serviceman/ PwBDs/ Female/ Transgender/ Minorities/ Economically backward class – Rs 250/-
The exam fee can be paid online by using Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking and UPI. Candidates who appear in the CBT will get a refund of their examination fee.
