Indian Army has invited applications from veterinary graduates for Short Service Commission in the rank of Captain in the Remount Veterinary Corps (RVC). Eligible male candidates can apply online for Army RVC Bharti Vacancies through joinindianarmy.nic.in from 17 Apr to 18 May 2026 and female candidates from 15 Apr to 15 May 2026. Indian Army Remount Veterinary Corps Recruitment
Total Number of Vacancies – 20 Posts (18 vacancies for male candidates and 02 vacancies for female candidates).
Age Limit – 21 to 32 Years as on the last date of receipt of application form.
Educational Qualification – BVSc/ BVSc & AH degree from any of the recognized Indian university or its equivalent foreign degree (i.e. the candidate must possess recognized veterinary qualification included in the first or second schedule of the Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984).
Note: BVSc/ BVSc & AH degree graduates, granted Short Service Commission (SSC) in RVC will be considered for grant of Permanent Commission (PC), only if they are below 30 years of age on the date of grant of SSC and if they qualify in the departmental PC Test as per extant rules and policies. Likewise, MVSc and Doctorate degree holders will be considered for grant of PC with age relaxation as per extant rules commensurate to the ante date seniority granted to them.

Nationality – Candidate must be a citizen of India OR A subject of Nepal OR A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African countries of Kenya, Uganda and the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Pay, Allowances and Promotion – Officers, on commissioning in the rank of Captain are entitled to pay matrix of level 10(B) Rs 61300/-, Military Service Pay of Rs 15500/-, Non-Practice Allowance (NPA) @ 20% of basic pay, in addition to Kit Maintenance Allowance (KMA) and Dearness Allowance (DA) as admissible, at rates applicable from time to time.
Additional benefits like concessional accommodation, free ration/ration money for self only, free medical facilities for self and family, LTC, 60 days annual leave and 20 days casual leave, canteen facilities and group insurance cover are also admissible.
Promotion up to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel while in SSC and thereafter, if granted PC, upto Colonel (TS) is time bound.

Selection Process for SSC in RVC
The selection process for Short Service Commission in Remount Veterinary Corps includes Initial screening, SSB Interview, Merit list followed by Medical examination. Initial screening of applications will be done at Directorate General Remount Veterinary Services, Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) to check eligibility and correctness of documents before forwarding them to Dte Gen Recruiting.
Candidates whose applications are found in order will be called to appear for the Service Selection Board on a specified date. Detailed instructions along with date and place of SSB Interview will be intimated directly by Dte Gen Recruiting, IHQ of MoD (Army) through Email/ SMS.
Merit list of the candidates recommended by the SSB and declared medically fit will be prepared. Merely qualifying the SSB interview does not confirm final selection. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained by the candidate at SSBs only and as such higher educational qualifications, previous achievements have no role to play.
Medical Examination – Candidates recommended by Service Selection Board will undergo medical examination by a medical board of male/ female Doctors/ Specialists/ Gynecologists. The proceedings of the Medical Board are confidential and will not be disclosed to anyone.
However, candidates declared unfit by the SMB will be intimated by the president of the Medical Board. The procedure for request for Appeal Medical Board (AMB) will also be intimated to the candidates. Unfit candidates have to report for AMB within a maximum period of 42 days.
Candidates declared unfit by AMB will be intimated by the President, AMB about procedure of challenging the finding of AMB. Review Medical Board (RMB) is granted at the discretion of Director General Armed Forces Medical Services based on the merits of the case. Candidates will be considered medically fit only on receipt of the approved medical documents from Directorate General Medical Services.
Pregnancy, in case of female candidates if detected at any stage, after selection at SSB or during training will debar the candidates including issue less married/ widow/ divorcee from grant of commission.
Finally, selected candidates will be detailed on post commission training at RVC Centre & College, Meerut Cantt. Candidates will neither be allowed to marry/ re-marry during the period of training nor will be allowed to live with parents/ Guardians. Candidates must not marry until they complete the full training at RVC Centre & College, Meerut Cantt.
Tenure of Engagement – All officers granted commission would serve the Indian Army for a period of five years from the date of conferment of commission subject to fulfillment of other conditions. This period of five years may further be extended by two spells of five years and four years subject to their performance.

Application Form, Required Documents and Notification
Eligible and interested male/female candidates (unmarried/ widow/ divorcee) can apply online for Indian Army RVC Recruitment Officer Entry from 15th Apr to 18th May 2026 (see separate dates below). You are required to register and submit online applications on the official website joinindianarmy.nic.in.
After submission of online application, you are required to takeout two copies of your application having Roll Number, 30 minutes after final closure of online application on last day. There is no need to send any hard copy to Directorate General RVS.

Required Documents – Self attested copy of following documents along with originals are to be carried to the Selection Centre by the candidates:
1. One copy of the Print out of application duly signed and affixed with self-attested photograph.
2. Matriculation/ Secondary School Examination Certificate or equivalent certificate and Marksheet issued by the Concerned Board of Education.
3. 12th class marksheet and certificate or Equivalent certificate.
4. Original/provisional BVSc/BVSc & AH degree.
5. Marksheets of all semesters/years.
6. MVSc and PhD degree certificate (as applicable) along with mark sheet.
7. Internship completion certificate.
