SSC Stenographer Exam Grade C and D Vacancies 2026-27

Staff Selection Commission has invited applications for 731 Vacancies of Steno Grade C (Group B) and Grade D (Group C) in various Ministries, Departments and Organizations. All eligible 12th pass candidates can apply online for the SSC Steno Grade C D Bharti Vacancies through ssc.gov.in up to 15th May 2026. Pay Scale:
Steno Grade C – Pay Band 2 with GP Rs 4200/ 4600
Steno Grade D – Pay Band 1 with GP Rs 2400

Total Number of Vacancies – 731 Posts

Vacancy Details – The Stenographer Vacancies will be filled in Ministries/ Departments of Central Government including their Attached/ Subordinate offices located in States/ UTs all over India. SSC Steno Grade C and Grade D vacancies (tentative) for the year 2026-27 are as follows (to be updated):

Age Limit:

Stenographer Grade C – 18 to 30 years as on 01.08.2026 i.e. candidate should be born between 02 Aug 1996 and 01 Aug 2008.
Stenographer Grade D – 18 to 27 years as on 01.08.2026 i.e. candidate should be born between 02 Aug 1999 and 01 Aug 2008.

Date of Birth as recorded in the Matriculation/ Secondary Examination Certificate will be accepted by the Commission for determining the age. Relaxation in upper age limit for SC, ST, OBC, PwD, Ex-Servicemen and other categories will be applicable as per Govt Rules.

Educational Qualification – 12th Pass (10+2) or equivalent qualification from a recognised Board or University.

Selection and Recruitment Process:

SSC Stenographer selection process consists of objective type computer based examination, skill test in stenography and document verification. Candidates who obtain the qualifying marks in the exam will be called for the skill test (qualifying in nature). Final selection of candidates will be based on their performance in the computer based examination.

Examination Centres

Central Region – Bhagalpur, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Patna, Agra, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Kanpur, Lucknow, Meerut and Varanasi.

Eastern Region – Sri Vijaya Puram, Ranchi, Dhanbad, Jamshedpur, Suri, Asansol, Burdwan, Durgapur, Balasore, Berhampore, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Sambalpur, Rourkela, Dhenkanal, Gangtok, Kolkata, Siliguri and Kalyani.

Karnataka-Kerala Region – Bengaluru, Belgavi, Kalaburagi/ Gulbarga, Mangalore, Mysore, Shivamogga, Hubballi, Udupi, Kannur, Kottayam, Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Kollam, Thrissur and Kavaratti.

Madhya Pradesh Region – Bhopal, Gwalior, Indore, Jabalpur, Satna, Sagar, Ujjain, Bilaspur, Raipur and Durg Bhilai.

North Eastern Region – Itanagar, Guwahati (Dispur), Dibrugarh, Imphal, Shillong, Aizawl,
Kohima, Agartala, Churachandpur and Ukhrul.

Northern Region – Delhi, Ajmer, Bikaner, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Sikar, Dehradun, Haldwani and Roorkee.

North-Western Region – Chandigarh/ Mohali, Hamirpur, Shimla, Jammu, Samba, Srinagar (J&K), Bathinda, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala and Ludhiana.

Southern Region – Guntur, Kakinada, Kurnool, Nellore, Ongole, Rajahmundry, Tirupathi, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Puducherry, Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Salem, Tiruchirappalli, Tirunelveli, Vellore, Hyderabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Krishnagiri, Srikakulam and Eluru.

Western Region – Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, Surat, Mehsana, Amravati, Kolhapur, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Mumbai, Nagpur, Nashik, Pune, Panaji and Jalgaon.

Application Form, Important Dates and Notification

Eligible and interested candidates can submit online application for the SSC Stenographer Recruitment through ssc.gov.in from 24th April to 15th May 2026. Online application contains two parts as One-time Registration part and Application form Part. Registration Part is for filling basic information and Application Part is required for payment details, uploading of photograph and scanned signature.

Candidates are advised to read the instructions and fill all the required details carefully while filling up the Registration Part and Application form Part.

Application fee – Rs 100/- (One hundred only).
The fee can be paid through online payment modes as BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or by using Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, or RuPay Credit or Debit card. SC, ST, Women, Persons with disability and Ex-serviceman candidates are exempted from payment of fee.

Important Dates:

Opening date of submission of online form – 24th Apr 2026
Last date for submission of online form – 15th May 2026 (11 PM)
Last date of fee payment – 16th May 2026 (11 PM)
Application form correction – 20th to 21st May 2026 (11 PM)
Examination date – Jul/Aug 2026
