Railway NTPC Recruitment 12th Pass & Graduate 8868 Posts

Indian Railway Recruitment Boards invited applications for filling up the following 5810 Vacancies of NTPC Graduate posts and 3058 Vacancies of Undergraduate (12th)  posts. Pay Scale:

Chief Commercial Cum Ticket Supervisor and Station Master – Rs 35400-112400 (Pay Level-6).

Traffic Assistant – Rs 25500-81100 (Pay Level-4).

Educational Qualification:

NTPC Graduate – Graduate Degree or equivalent qualification from a recognized University.

NTPC Undergraduate – 12th Pass (10+2) or its equivalent with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate. 50% marks is not mandatory for candidates having qualification above 12th (10+2) and in case of SC/ ST/ PwBD / Ex-servicemen. For the posts of Typist, proficiency in typing in English/ Hindi on Computer is essential.

Age Limit:

NTPC Graduate – 18 to 33 years as on 01st Jan 2026 i.e. candidate must be born between 02 Jan 1993 and 01 Jan 2008. Relaxation in upper age limit for SC, ST, OBC, Ex-Servicemen and other categories is applicable as per Govt rules.

NTPC Undergraduate (12th) – 18 to 30 years as on 01st Jan 2026 i.e. candidate must be born between 02 Jan 1996 and 01 Jan 2008. Relaxation in upper age limit for SC, ST, OBC, Ex-Servicemen and other categories is applicable as per Govt rules.

Railway NTPC Selection Process and Exam Syllabus

RRB Railway NTPC recruitment process consists of 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT-I), 2nd Stage Computer Based Test (CBT-II), Typing Skill Test/ Computer Based Aptitude Test (as applicable) and Document Verification/ Medical Examination. Candidates will be selected on the basis of merit.

Post-wise NTPC Recruitment process is as follows:

  • Chief Commercial Cum Ticket Supervisor: 1st Stage CBT and 2nd Stage CBT.
  • Station Master: 1st Stage CBT, 2nd Stage CBT and Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT).
  • Goods Train Manager: 1st Stage CBT and 2nd Stage CBT.
  • Junior Account Assistant Cum Typist: 1st Stage CBT, 2nd Stage CBT and Typing Skill Test.
  • Senior Clerk Cum Typist: 1st Stage CBT, 2nd Stage CBT and Typing Skill Test.
  • Traffic Assistant: 1st Stage CBT, 2nd Stage CBT and Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT).
  • Commercial cum Ticket Clerk: 1st Stage CBT and 2nd Stage CBT.
  • Accounts Clerk cum Typist: 1st Stage CBT, 2nd Stage CBT and Typing Skill Test.
  • Junior Clerk cum Typist: 1st Stage CBT, 2nd Stage CBT and Typing Skill Test.

The Admit Card (E-Call letters) for CBT, Computer based Aptitude Test, Typing Skill Test and Document Verification (as applicable) will be available to download only from websites of the concerned Railway Recruitment Boards. No call letter will be sent by Post.

The latest and detailed RRB NTPC Selection Process is as follows:

1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT-I)

1st Stage CBT exam will be of 90 Minutes duration and will consist of total 100 objective type questions (01 mark each). There will be negative marking and 1/3rd of the marks allotted for each question will be deducted for each wrong answer.

  • General Awareness: 40 Questions (40 Marks)
  • Mathematics: 30 Questions (30 Marks)
  • General Intelligence and Reasoning: 30 Questions (30 Marks)

Minimum cut-off marks to qualify 1st Stage CBT:

UR/ EWS Category – 40% Marks
OBC/ SC Category – 30% Marks
ST Category – 25% Marks

2nd Stage Computer Based Test (CBT-II)

Candidates shortlisted (15 times the community wise vacancies) from 1st Stage CBT will be allowed to appear for the 2nd Stage CBT Exam. The CBT-II exam will be of 90 Minutes duration and will consist of total 120 objective type questions (01 mark each). There will be negative marking and 1/3 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.

  • General Awareness: 50 Questions (50 Marks)
  • Mathematics: 35 Questions (35 Marks)
  • General Intelligence and Reasoning: 35 Questions (35 Marks)

Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)

Candidates (8 times the number of vacancies) who have opted for Station Master/ Traffic Assistant and qualified in 2nd Stage CBT will have to appear for CBAT. The candidates have to secure a minimum T-Score of 42 Marks in each of the test batteries to qualify. The CBAT will have questions and answer options only in English and Hindi. There will be no negative marking in CBAT.

The Station Master/ Traffic Assistant merit list will be drawn only from amongst the candidates qualifying in the CBAT, with 70% weightage for the marks obtained in the 2nd Stage CBT and 30% weightage for the marks obtained in CBAT.

Typing Skill Test (TST)

Candidates (8 times the number of vacancies) who have opted for the posts of Senior Clerk cum Typist/ Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist/ Accounts Clerk cum Typist/ Junior Clerk cum Typist and have qualified in 2nd Stage CBT will have to appear for Typing Skill Test.

The candidates should be able to type 30 words per minute in English or 25 words per minute in Hindi on Personal Computer only without editing tools and spell check facility. For guidelines of those who appear for typing skill test in Hindi, Kruti Dev and Mangal font will be made available for typing skill test on Personal Computer.

Document Verification (DV)

Based on the performance in the examination candidates equal to the number of vacancies will be called for Document Verification as per their merit and options. Candidates will have to produce the following original documents/ certificates at the time of Document Verification (DV):

1. Matriculation/ High School Examination Certificate or Equivalent certificate as Proof for Date of Birth and Matriculation Qualification.
2. 10+2/ Inter/ Higher Secondary/ PUC/ Equivalent Certificate (as applicable).
3. A University degree or its equivalent.
4. SC/ ST/ OBC-NCL/ EWS Certificate in the prescribed format.
5. Income Certificate for Waiving Examination Fee for Economically Backward Classes in the prescribed format.
6. Minority Community declarations on Non-judicial Stamp Paper in the prescribed format.
7. Original discharge certificate and Self-declaration in the prescribed format (for Ex-servicemen).
8. Medical Certificate for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) in the prescribed format.
9. NOC from serving employees.
10. Gazette notification and/or any Legal document in case of formal change of name.
11. Receipt of offline payment if made through a challan at SBI branch or Pay-in-slip at computerized Post Office.
12. Other Certificates (as applicable).

Medical Examination

Candidates called for document verification will have to pass requisite medical fitness test(s) conducted by the Railway Administration to ensure that the candidates are medically fit to carry out the duties connected with the post(s) opted by them. Visual Acuity Standard is one of the important criteria of medical fitness of railway staff. Candidates must be physically fit in all respects.

Post-wise medical standards are as follows:

Chief Commercial Cum Ticket Supervisor and Commercial cum Ticket Clerk:
Medical Standard – B-2
Visual Acuity – Distance Vision: 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses (Power of lenses not to exceed 4D). Near Vision: Sn 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close work is required and must pass test for Field of Vision (Binocular Vision) etc.

Station Master, Goods Train Manager and Traffic Assistant:
Medical Standard – A-2
Visual Acuity – Distant Vision: 6/9, 6/9 without glasses (No fogging test). Near Vision: Sn 0.6, 0.6 without glasses and must pass test for Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Night Vision and Myopic vision.

Junior Account Assistant Cum Typist, Senior Clerk Cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist and Junior Clerk cum Typist:
Medical Standard – C-2
Visual Acuity – Distant Vision: 6/12, nil with or without glasses. Near Vision: Sn 0.6 combined with or without glasses where reading or close work is required.

Trains Clerk:
Medical Standard – A-3
Visual Acuity – Distant Vision: 6/9, 6/9 with or without glasses (power of lenses not to exceed 2D). Near Vision: Sn 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses and must pass test for Color Vision, Binocular Vision, Night Vision and Myopic vision.

Application Form, Important Dates and Notification

Eligible and interested candidates can apply online for the Indian Railway NTPC Graduate Recruitment Non Technical Vacancies (CEN 06/2025) through the website www.rrbapply.gov.in from 21st Oct to 20th Nov 2025.

Eligible and interested 12th pass candidates can apply online for the Indian Railway NTPC Undergraduate Recruitment Non Technical Vacancies (CEN 07/2025) through the website www.rrbapply.gov.in from 28th Oct to 27th Nov 2025.

Before applying online, keep ready a valid Email ID, Mobile number, Educational qualification details, Aadhar number and scanned copy of candidate Photograph (20 KB to 50 KB), Signature (10 KB to 40 KB), SC/ ST certificate (50 KB to 100 KB) and Scribe photo (20 KB to 50 KB) in JPEG format.

You are advised to ascertain vacancies notified against all RRBs and then decide the RRB for which you wish to apply and ensure that the RRB to which you wish to fill the online application is having vacancies for your educational qualification, community/ category and eligibility in terms of age, medical standards, disability etc.

To submit the RRB NTPC Online Application form, visit on the website www.rrbapply.gov.in and then click on “Create An Account” link under Apply button (if not already registered). After successful submission of online application, take print out of the online application for reference.

No physical copy of application is required to be sent to the concerned RRB. You are advised to go through the detailed employment notice or advertisement.

Examination fee:
Rs 250 – For PwBD / Female /Transgender/ Ex-Servicemen candidates and candidates belonging to SC/ST/Minority Communities/ Economically Backward Class.
Rs 500 – For all other candidates.

The exam fee can be paid by using Internet Banking/ Debit Card/ Credit Card/ UPI.
