Indian Army invited online applications for grant of Short Service Commission in the Military Nursing Service (MNS). All eligible Indian female candidates can apply online for the Indian Army MNS SSC Officer Bharti Vacancies through the website www.nta.ac.in from 11th Dec to 26th Dec 2023. Selected candidates will be granted the rank of Lieutenant on completion of the pre-commissioning formalities. Indian Army MNS SSC Officer Recruitment 2023-24
Pay Scale – Rs 56100-177500 Pay level-10 plus Military Service Pay (MSP) Rs 15500 (Old scale- Basic Pay Rs 15600 with Grade Pay Rs 5400 plus MSP Rs 4200) on completion of the pre-commissioning formalities. You will be entitled other allowances admissible to Lieutenant as per MNS pay matrix and other benefits like entitled ration, accommodation and allied facilities.
Age Limit – 21 to 35 years as on closing date of application i.e. candidate should be born between 25 Dec 1988 and 26 Dec 2002 (both days inclusive).
Educational Qualification – Female candidates (Single/ Married/ Divorcee/ Legally separated/ Widow) are eligible to apply for MNS SSC posts. Candidates must have passed B.Sc (Nursing)/ Post Basic B.Sc (Nursing)/ M.Sc (Nursing) from INC recognized University and should be a registered Nurse and Midwife from a State Nursing Council.
Employability – Candidates selected for grant of SSC in the MNS will be liable to serve for 05 years extendable to a total tenure of 14 years (5+5+4), anywhere in India in the same way as Military Nursing Service (Regular) Officers of the Armed Forces (Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force).
Indian Army MNS SSC Selection Process and Exam Pattern
The selection process consists of computer based examination, interview and medical examination. The Computer Based Examination (CBE) is scheduled to be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) on 14th Jan 2024 at the selected Centers all over India. After completion of exam, qualified candidates will be shortlisted for interview in the order of merit on the basis of performance in CBE.
Computer Based Examination
The NTA has been entrusted the responsibility of conducting a Computer Based Test (CBT) for Military Nursing Service: Selection for Short Service Commission (SSC) 2023-24 under the aegis of Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS).
The CBT will consist of Multiple Choice Questions based on Nursing, English language and General Intelligence. The online exam will be of 2½ Hours (150 Minutes) duration. The CBT or CBE will be in English only and no negative marking will be applicable in the exam. Candidates have to score minimum 50% Marks as qualifying marks in Computer Based Examination.
After the exam, candidates can view their own Score Card at NTA website. The list of qualified candidates shortlisted for interview will be published on the Join Indian Army website and NTA website with the instructions for interview.
Required number of qualified candidates, in the order of merit will be called for interview at Delhi, subject to the available vacancies. Thereafter, only the candidates who have cleared the interview will be subjected to Medical Examination. Candidates have to produce the following self attested documents at the time of interview:
- Matriculation Certificate/ School Leaving Certificate (indicating date of birth).
- Valid State Nursing Registration certificate of upgraded MSc Nursing/ PB BSc Nursing/ BSc Nursing course.
- MSc(N)/ PB BSc(N)/ BSc(N) certificate and marklists.
- NCC Certificate (if any).
- Character Certificate issued by a Gazetted Officer.
- Proof of Indian Nationality (Nationality/ Domicile certificate/ Voter ID/ Aadhar Card/ Passport/ any other proof).
- No objection certificate from the present employer (if employed).
- One self addressed envelope with Rs 40/- postal stamp for speed-post of call letters if selected.
- Copy of release order if previously served in Military Nursing Service.
- In case of change of name, copy of Gazette Notification/ any other authority clearly highlighting your new name.
The physical and medical fitness will be assessed as per Military standards applicable for commission in the Armed Forces. X-Ray examination of Chest and USG (of abdomen) will be done. The physical fitness of selected candidates will finally be determined by a Medical Board under arrangement made by the office of DGAFMS. Candidates pregnant at the time of medical examination and joining for commission will be rejected being temporarily medically unfit.
For final selection as MNS Short Service Commissioned Officer, only the required number of shortlisted candidates (as per vacancy and merit) who are pronounced medically fit in all respect will be sent call letters to report to the various hospitals in Armed Forces.
Permanent Commission – SSC Officers of the MNS will be considered for grant of permanent commission as per existing rules as amended from time to time. They will be subjected to interview by a Selection Board duly constituted for the same. However, the grant of Permanent Commission will be subject to availability of vacancies in the Cadre.

Eligible and interested female candidates are required to apply online for the Military Nursing Service SSC Officer Vacancies through the website www.nta.ac.in from 11th Dec to 26th Dec 2023. Before applying online, keep ready your own active e-mail address and mobile number as all communication will be sent by NTA through registered email address or mobile number only.
Only one application is to be submitted by a candidate. Under no circumstances, candidates will be allowed to fill more than one application form. Candidates are advised to strictly follow the instructions given in the Information Bulletin on the NTA website. Candidates not complying with the instructions will be summarily disqualified. Candidates are not required to send any paper applications or documents.
Application fee – Candidates will have to pay Rs 900/- (Rupees Nine Hundred only) as application processing fee to NTA through online payment gateway using Debit Card/ Credit Cards, Net banking and UPI.
