ITBP Motor Mechanic Selection Process 2024-2025
Candidates whose application forms are found to be in order will be issued admit card. Such candidates will have to appear for the recruitment tests as per the date, time and center (place) mentioned in Admit Card. After verification of identity and bio-metric examination at the center, candidates will have to undergo different recruitment tests as given below.
- Phase 1: Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST)
- Phase 2: Documentation and Written Examination
- Phase 3: Practical (Skill) Test, Merit List and Medical Examination (DME/ RME)

ITBP MM (Motor Mechanic) Selection Procedure
Candidates will have to undergo different selection tests step by step as given in detail below.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Firstly, candidates will have to go through the following Physical Efficiency Test (PET) events. PET will be only qualifying in nature and it will not carry any marks. You will have to carry a clear printout of online application form, admit card and documents at the time of physical tests.
Race: 1.6 Kms Race within 07 Minutes 30 Seconds
Long Jump: 11 Feet (03 Chances)
High Jump: 3½ Feet (03 Chances)
Physical Standard Test (PST)
Candidates qualified in PET will have to undergo Physical Standard Test. Physical Standards (Height, Chest and Weight) for Constable (MM) and Head Constable (MM) will be measured as follows:
Height:
GEN/SC/OBC Category – 170 Cms
ST Category – 162.5 Cms
ST Category (North-Eastern States) – 160 Cms
Garhwalis, Kumaonis, Gorkhas, Dogras, Marathas and candidates from Assam, Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir region of UT Jammu & Kashmir and UT Ladakh – 165 Cms
Candidates from North-Eastern States (Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim, Nagaland and Tripura) – 162.5 Cms
Chest:
GEN/SC/OBC Category – 80-85 Cms
ST Category – 76-81 Cms
ST Category (North-Eastern States) – 76-81 Cms
Garhwalis, Kumaonis, Gorkhas, Dogras, Marathas and candidates from Assam, Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir region of UT Jammu & Kashmir and UT Ladakh – 78-83 Cms
Candidates from North-Eastern States (Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim, Nagaland and Tripura) – 77-82 Cms
Weight: Proportionate to height and age as per medical standards.

Documentation
Candidates qualified in PET and PST will have to go through verification of original documents (documentation). In this test candidates will have to produce all original documents/ certificates in proof of details as given in the online form. The following documents are required at the time of verification (DV):
1. Educational certificates including Diploma/ ITI certificate.
2. Date of birth certificate (10th pass certificate).
3. Experience certificate (if any).
4. SC/ST/OBC/EWS certificate (as applicable).
5. Domicile certificate/ PAN Card/ Aadhar Card/ Driving License/ Voter ID Card for verification of citizenship.
6. Discharge certificate (for Ex-Serviceman).
7. Relaxation certificate (if applicable).
8. Four passport size photographs.
Written Examination
Candidates qualified in the PET, PST and Documentation will be allowed to appear in the Written Test of maximum 100 Marks. The written exam will be conducted as per the date, time and center (venue) mentioned in Admit Card available to download from the official website recruitment.itbpolice.nic.in.
Written Exam Syllabus/ Pattern – ITBP Constable (Motor Mechanic) and Head Constable (Motor Mechanic) question paper will be of 02 Hours duration and will consist of total 100 objective type questions (01 mark each). The pattern of written exam i.e. OMR Based or Computer Based Test (CBT) will be decided by ITBP.
Questions for Constable (MM) and HC (MM) written test will be of 10th standard and 12th standard respectively. The question paper will be set both in Hindi and English (except Hindi and English subject).
The Question Paper will comprise of questions based on:
- General Knowledge: 10 Questions (10 Marks)
- Mathematics: 10 Questions (10 Marks)
- Hindi or English: 20 Questions (20 Marks)
- Trade Related Theory: 60 Questions (60 Marks)
Minimum Cut off marks for qualifying in written exam:
UR/EWS Candidates – 35% Marks
SC/ST/OBC Candidates – 33% Marks

Practical (Skill) Test
Candidates qualified in written test will have to go through a Skill Test of maximum 50 Marks. Qualifying marks will be 50% for all categories. Skill test will consist of 04 parts as follows:
Vehicle inspection – 10 Marks
Identification of faults – 10 Marks
Rectification of defects – 25 Marks
Handling of tools – 05 Marks
Merit List
After the Practical (Skill) Test, post wise (Constable MM/ Head Constable MM) and category wise merit lists will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in the Written Examination.
Medical Examination
Candidates will be called for Detailed Medical Examination (DME) in order of merit as per category wise number of vacancies. The candidates will be medically examined to assess their physical and medical fitness as per Medical Standards issued by MHA. Candidates declared unfit during Detailed Medical Examination (DME) will be allowed to undergo Review Medical Examination (RME).
The minimum distant vision should be 6/6 and 6/9 of both eyes without correction i.e. without wearing glasses. The visual (eye sight) standards for Constable (MM) and Head Constable (MM) for all categories are as follows:
Visual Acuity unaided (NEAR VISION): Better eye- N6 and Worse eye- N9.
Uncorrected visual acuity (DISTANT VISION): Better eye- 6/6 and Worse eye- 6/9.
Refraction: Visual correction of any kind is not permitted even by glasses.
Color Vision: CP-III by ISIHARA.
In right handed person, the Right eye is better eye and vice versa. Binocular vision is required.
A colour blind person will not be eligible for appointment. The candidate must not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes and must pass high grade colour vision. The candidate must be in good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of the duties.
Tattoos depicting religious symbol or figures and the name, as followed in Indian Army are to be permitted. Tattoos marked on traditional sites of the body like inner aspect of forearm but only left forearm, being non saluting limb or dorsum of the hands are to be allowed. Size must be less than ¼ of the particular part (Elbow or Hand) of the body.
