Indian Army has invited online applications for filling up the vacancies of Junior Commission Officer (Catering) for the current recruiting year. Indian Army JCO (Catering) Recruitment 2025-2026
Pay Scale – Rs 35400-112400 plus other allowances. Pay and allowances will be at the rates and under the conditions applicable to all MP personnel, as revised from time to time.
Eligibility Criteria – Indian Army JCO Catering eligibility criteria in terms of age limit and educational is as follows:
Age Limit – 21 to 27 Years as on 01st Oct 2025 i.e. candidate should be born between 01 Oct 1998 and 01 Oct 2004 (both days inclusive).

Educational Qualification – 12th Pass (10+2) or equivalent from any Education Board recognised by Council of Board of School Education in India. Candidates should have working knowledge of either English or Hindi or both. AND
Diploma/ Certificate Course of a duration of 01 year or more in Cookery/ Hotel Management and Catering Technology from a recognised University/ Food Craft Institute. Course recognized by the following Govt Agencies will be considered for eligibility for recruitment of JCO (Catering):
1. Catering courses run by institutes which are recognized by universities under the aegis of Association of Indian Universities.
2. Catering courses run by the institutes which are recognised by Central AICTE or the AICTE, Regional Offices.
3. Institutes of Hotel Management (IHMs)/ Food Craft Institutes (FCIs) under control of Human Resources Development.
4. Hotel Management/ Catering courses from Institutions which have been recognised by the respective States.

JCO Catering Selection Process, CEE Syllabus and Physical Test
Indian Army JCO Catering recruitment process consists of 03 phases as follows:
- Phase 1: Common Entrance Examination (CEE)
- Phase 2: Recruitment Rally (Document verification, Physical fitness test, Physical measurement test, Adaptability test and Medical examination)
- Phase 3: Interview and Skill Test
The latest and detailed selection process for the Indian Army Junior Commissioned Officer (Catering) is as follows:
Common Entrance Examination (CEE)
Firstly, all the candidates will be issued Admit Card for Common Entrance Examination (Online CEE) on the basis of their online application. You will have to download JCO (Catering) Admit Card through the official website and carry a colour printout at the allotted Computer based exam centre. Entry gates at exam center will be opened one and a half hour prior to scheduled time of exams and will close 30 minutes prior to time of exam.
Indian Army JCO Catering Online Examination consists of a single paper as per the following exam pattern and syllabus:
- Paper (Catering): 100 Questions (100 Marks)
The exam paper consists of a total 100 Objective Type questions (01 Mark each) to check the knowledge specific to Catering (Cooking method, Menu planning, Food preservation etc). The exam will be of total 02 Hours duration. There will be no negative marking applicable in the exam. Minimum 40% Marks are required to obtain in the written paper to come in the merit list and to be eligible for Phase-2.

Indian Army JCO Catering Syllabus (CEE Exam):
The exam will consist of questions related to Cooking Method, Menu Planning, Food Preservation, Selection and storage of Food, Hygiene and Sanitation of Cook House, Personal Hygiene, Safety Measures of LPG, Balanced Diet for Adult, Food Colours, Ingredients, Recipes of Indian, Chinese and Continental Dishes, Kitchen Equipment and Types of Chullhas, Wastage of Food and Exercise of Control, Anti Fly Measures, Organization and Function of Army Catering, Tinned and Dehydrated Food Stuff, Bread Making, Duty Roster of Cooks.
Note – The above syllabus is not a comprehensive list of topics pertaining to the subject. Questions are designed to test the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions are also designed to test knowledge of current events and such matters of everyday observation and experience as may be expected of an educated person.
Recruitment Rally
After completion of Army JCO Catering online exam, candidates will be shortlisted proportionate to the available vacancies by applying a cut off in CEE Result. The Roll Number of the candidates who are in merit will be published through the official website. Thereafter, shortlisted candidates will be issued admit card for Phase-2 (Recruitment Rally) as per the Schedule of AROs.

Recruitment Rally (Document verification, Physical fitness test, Physical measurement test, Adaptability test and Medical examination) will be conducted at respective HQ Recruiting Zone/ Regimental Centres as per the detailed information below.
Documents Required for Recruitment rally – You will have to carry Admit Card along with the following required documents/ certificates in original as well as photocopies, when called for Phase-2 (Recruitment Rally):
- Admit Card printed on Laser Printer on good quality paper.
- Twenty (20) copies of unattested Passport size colour photographs developed on good quality photographic paper in white background not more than three months old. Computerized/ photocopied/ shopped photographs will not be accepted. Photographs must be with proper hair cut and clean shave (except Sikh candidates).
- Education certificates with marks sheet of all educational qualifications achieved by candidate i.e. Matric/ intermediate etc from recognized School/ College/ Board/ University. Candidates with matric certificate from Open School should bring School Leaving Certificate countersigned by BEO/DEO.
- Domicile Certificate with photograph issued by Tehsildar/ District Magistrate.
- Caste Certificate affixed with photograph of the candidate issued by the Tehsildar/ District Magistrate.
- College Character Certificate issued by the Principal where the candidates last studied.
- Character Certificate with photograph issued by Village Sarpanch/ Municipal Corporation within last 06 months.
- Relationship Certificate issued by concerned Record Officer for Son of Serviceman/ Ex-servicemen, Son of War Widow/ Son of Widow (if applicable).
- Affidavit duly signed by candidate on Rs 10/- Non-Judicial Paper duly attested by Notary as per the prescribed format.
- PAN Card and Aadhar Card.
- Police Character Certificate.
- Sarpanch/ Nagar Sewak (Residence proof).
Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
Run – 1.6 Kms within 06 Minutes 15 Seconds (Need to qualify only).
Pull Up (Beam) – Minimum 06 Pull ups.
Zig Zag Balance – Need to qualify only.
09 Feet Ditch Jump – Need to qualify only.
Provisions of extra time for 1.6 Km Run in Hilly Terrain Areas: Between 5000 feet to 9000 feet- Additional 30 Seconds and Between 9000 feet to 12000 feet- Additional 120 Seconds.
The PFT will be qualifying in nature and candidates will have to qualify in all the physical fitness tests. Marks obtained in PFT will not be considered while finalizing the final merit.

Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
Candidates qualified in PFT will have to undergo Physical Measurement Test. The Physical Standards (Height, Chest and Weight) for Indian Army JCO (Catering) post will be measured as follows:
Western Himalayan (Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab Hills, Garhwal and Kumaon Uttarakhand) – Height: 163 Cms, Chest: 77 Cms and Weight: 48 Kg.
Western Plains (Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan and Western Uttar Pradesh- Meerut and Agra Division) – Height: 170 Cms, Chest: 77 Cms and Weight: 50 Kg.
Eastern Himalayan (Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam and Hill Region of West Bengal) – Height: 160 Cms, Chest: 77 Cms and Weight: 48 Kg.
Eastern Plains (Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Orissa) – Height: 169 Cms, Chest: 77 Cms and Weight: 50 Kg.
Central Plains (Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Dadar, Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu) – Height: 168 Cms, Chest: 77 Cms and Weight: 50 Kg.
Southern Plains (Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Goa and Puducherry) – Height: 166 Cms, Chest: 77 Cms and Weight: 50 Kg.
Adaptability Test
Candidates qualified in PFT and PMT will have to undertake Adaptability Test as per policy in vogue. Adaptability Test is for selection of candidates who can adapt to the environment of the Indian Army and are able to adapt to the challenges of military life. Those candidates who qualify the Adaptability Test will be eligible for Medical Exam and further recruitment process.
Medical Examination
Candidates qualified in PFT, PMT and Adaptability Test will be put through detailed Medical examination. Candidates should have robust physique and mental health, chest should be well developed having minimum 5 cm expansion, should have normal hearing with each ear, should have sufficient number of natural teeth i.e. 14 dental points with healthy gums. Candidate should not have diseases like deformity of bones, hydrocele, varicose veins or piles.
Interview
The Names of candidates qualified in Phase-2 (PFT, PMT and Medical exam) and short listed for interview will be published on the official website by HQ Recruiting Zone, Bangalore. Thereafter, the candidates will be will be subjected to Skill Test/ Interview by board of officers at 2 ASC Centre (South), Bangalore. Candidates will have to score minimum 50% Marks in Skill Test/ Interview to qualify for consideration in the final merit.
Final Selection
Final selection of candidates will be based on merit list prepared on the basis of the total marks obtained in Online Exam (CEE) and Skill test/ Interview with relative weightage in the ratio of 80% and 20% respectively. No bonus marks will be entitled to son of Serving/ Ex-servicemen/ War Widow/ Widow and Sportsmen/ NCC/ Computer certificate holders.
The finally selected candidates will be enrolled as Provisional (Catering) JCOs and will undergo 06 Weeks Basic Training at ASC Centre (South), Bangalore. On successful completion of training the candidates will be commissioned as JCO Catering in the rank of Naib Subedar as per existing terms and conditions.

Eligible and interested male candidates are required to apply online for the Indian Army JCO Catering Recruitment through the website joinindianarmy.nic.in up to 25th Apr 2025 (extended). Candidates will have to register online (if not registered already) and submit online application form. You will have to carry required documents as Educational certificates, Character certificate, Domicile/ Resident/ Nativity certificate, NCC/ Relationship Certificate (if applicable) etc in original and self-attested photocopy with Admit Card at the time of Phase-2 (Recruitment rally), if shortlisted in CEE.
Examination fee – All candidates will have to pay Rs 250/- plus banking charges (as applicable) for the online examination. The payment can be made through Maestro, Master Card, VISA, Rupay Cards both Credit & Debit of all major banks, Internet banking and UPI.
