Army Bharti Selection Process, Physical Test and Standards

Indian Army has set to conduct CEE and Recruitment Rally (PFT, PMT, Medical exam etc) for General Duty, Clerk/ SKT, Technical, NA, Tradesman etc categories under various Zones and States. Indian Army Recruitment Process 2024-2025

Indian Army has changed the name of Agniveer Clerk to Agniveer Office Assistant. Now candidates appearing for Agniveer Office Asst/SKT will have to undergo Typing test with a speed of 30 words per min (wpm) in English typing during the online CEE. Candidates qualified in typing test will only be eligible for Phase-2 of the recruitment process.

As per the latest Agnipath Scheme, now candidates enrolled as Agniveer GD, Agniveer Office Assistant/ SKT (Clerk), Agniveer Technical and Tradesman (8th/ 10th Pass) will be selected for the service of 04 years (except technical cadres of Medical Branch). Thereafter the candidates will be eligible to apply for the regular cadre.

Based on organizational requirements only 25% Agniveers will be selected in regular cadre as Soldier GD, Soldier Clerk/SKT, Soldier Technical and Soldier Tradesman to serve for a further engagement period of 15 years. Applications for the regular cadre will be considered in a centralised manner based on an objective criteria including performance during engagement period of 04 years. Join Indian Army Selection Process:

As per the latest rules, Indian Army Bharti Selection consists of Phase 1 (Online Common Entrance Exam) and Phase 2 (Recruitment Rally). Now candidates have to undergo different stages of recruitment process in the order of tests as follows:

  • Phase 1: Online Common Entrance Exam (CEE) at Computer Based Test Centres.
  • Phase 2: Recruitment Rally (Physical Fitness Test, Physical Measurement Test, Adaptability Test and Medical Examination) by AROs at Rally Venue.

The latest and detailed Indian Army Selection Process is as follows:

Computer Based Written Exam (Online CEE)

Firstly, Admit Card will be issued for Online Common Entrance Examination (CEE) to all candidates whose application forms are found to be in order. Candidates will have to download their Admit Card through Join Indian Army website and carry a colour printout at the exam centre. Entry gates at exam center will be opened one and a half hour prior to scheduled time of exams and will close 30 minutes prior to time of exam.

The online test consists of Objective Type Multiple Choice Question (MCQ). Candidates are required to answer 50 Questions in 01 Hour or 100 Questions in 02 Hours as per category of application.

Typing test for candidates appearing for Agniveer Office Assistant/ SKT will be conducted during the online CEE wherein 30 words per min (wpm) in English during the test is desirable. Only those candidates who qualify the typing test will be eligible for call up for Phase-2 of recruitment process.

After completion of online exam, candidates will be shortlisted proportionate to the available vacancies by applying a cut off in written exam CEE result. The Roll Number of the candidates who are in merit will be published on the official website. These shortlisted candidates will be issued admit card for Phase 2 (Recruitment rally) as per the Schedule of AROs.

Recruitment Rally

Shortlisted candidates have to report on the stipulated date and time for Phase 2 (Physical Fitness Test, Physical Measurement Test and Medical Examination) at the designated rally venue with following document/ certificate in original along with 02 attested photocopies (complete list of required documents will be notified through particular recruitment notification):

  • Admit Card (printed on Laser Printer on good quality paper).
  • 20 passport size colour photographs (not more than 03 months old).
  • 08th/ 10th/ 12th/ Higher Education certificates and marks sheets. Candidates with matric certificate from Open School should bring School Leaving Certificate countersigned by BEO/DEO.
  • Domicile certificate with photograph.
  • School Character certificate issued by the School/College Principal/Headmaster.
  • Character Certificate with photograph issued by Village Sarpanch/ Municipal Corporation within last 06 months.
  • Police Character Certificate.
  • Unmarried certificate.
  • Caste certificate with photograph.
  • NCC/ Computer/ Sports/ Relationship/ ITI/ Diploma certificate (if held).
  • Affidavit.
  • Religion Certificate.
  • Relationship Certificate.
  • Certificate of Bonus Marks.
  • PAN Card and Aadhar Card.

At the rally site, all candidates will have to report duly shaved (beard, chest hair, axillary hair, pubic hair and with crew hair cut (except Sikh Candidates), for identification at various stages of Army Bharti Selection Process. Candidates must carry pen and Handkerchief. All candidates appearing for recruitment rally should be fully vaccinated for Covid-19. The certificate to be produced upon asking.

Physical Fitness Test (PFT)

After checking of Recruitment Rally Admit Card and original documents/ certificates, candidates will be allowed for the Physical Fitness Test (PFT). Indian Army Physical Fitness Test (PFT) consists of the following events:

Run/ Race (1.6 Km): 1.6 Km Run for all categories as Agniveer GD, Tradesman, Office Asst/ Clerk/ SKT / IM, Technical, Soldier Nursing Assistant (NA)/ NA (VET), Sepoy Pharma, Havildar Education, Surveyor Auto Cartographer, JCO Catering and JCO RT will be conducted as follows:

  • Upto 05 Minutes 30 Seconds – Group 1st (60 Marks)
  • From 05 Minutes 31 Seconds to 05 Minutes 45 Seconds – Group 2nd (48 Marks)

Pull Ups Chin Touch (Beam): Pull Ups (Beam) for all categories as Agniveer GD, Tradesman, Office Asst/ Clerk/ SKT / IM, Technical, Soldier Nursing Assistant (NA)/ NA (VET), Sepoy Pharma, Havildar Education, Surveyor Auto Cartographer, JCO Catering and JCO RT will be conducted as follows:

  • 10 Pull Ups: 40 Marks
  • 09 Pull Ups: 33 Marks
  • 8 Pull Ups: 27 Marks
  • 7 Pull Ups: 21 Marks
  • 6 Pull Ups: 16 Marks
  • Below 6 Pull Ups: Fail

Ditch: 09 Feet (qualifying in nature).
Zig-Zag Balance: Qualifying in nature.

Candidates appearing for Agniveer Technical and Agniveer Clerk/ SKT are only need to qualify in all PFT tests (marking will not be applicable).

Physical Measurement Test (PMT)

Candidates qualified in Physical Fitness Test (PFT) will have to undergo PMT (Height, Weight and Chest Measurement). The Physical Measurement Test will be conducted according to Physical Standards applicable for a particular State/ Region as per the details below.

State and Region wise Physical Standards:

Physical Standards for Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab Hill (Area South & West of the Inter State Border between Himachal Pradesh and Punjab and North & East of Road Mukerian, Hoshiarpur, Garhshankar and Ropar) and Uttarakhand (Garhwal & Kumaon)

  • Agniveer GD and Tradesman: 163 Cms
  • Agniveer Technical: 163 Cms
  • Agniveer Office Asst/ SKT: 162 Cms
  • Soldier Nursing Assistant/ NA Veterinary/ Sepoy Pharma: 163 Cms

Height for Uttarakhand (Garhwal/ Kumaon): Minimum 163 Cms for Agniveer GD, Technical, Tradesman, Soldier Nursing Assistant, Sepoy Pharma and minimum 162 Cms for Agniveer Clerk/ SKT.
Chest: 77 Cms (Expansion: 5 Cms).

Relaxation (Height, Weight and Chest)

Relaxation in Height, Weight & Chest Measurement for Relation Certificate holders, Outstanding Sportsmen & chronically poor area candidates will be as follows:

Relaxation for SOW, SOS, SOWW and Widow of Ex-Servicemen, Adopted Son/ Son-in-Law of a War Widow, if she has no son and including a legally adopted son of Serving/ Ex-Servicemen – Height: 02 Cms, Chest: 01 Cm and Weight: 02 Kgs.

Relaxation for Outstanding Sportsmen (National / State/ District/ College/ School/ University/ Board Championship with 1st / 2nd position) – Height: 02 Cms, Chest: 03 Cms and Weight: 05 Kgs.

Relaxation for Agniveer GD Women in Corps of Military Police (Daughter of Servicemen/ Ex-Servicemen/ War Widow/ Widow of Ex-servicemen and Widows of Defence pers who have died in harness) – Height: 02 Cms and Weight: 02 Kgs.

Adaptability Test

All candidates who qualifies the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and Physical Measurement Test (PMT) will have to undertake Adaptability Test as per policy in vogue. Adaptability Test is for selection of candidates who can adapt to the environment of the Indian Army and are able to adapt to the challenges of military life.

Those candidates who will qualify the Adaptability Test will be eligible for medical exam and further recruitment process. Those candidate who do not qualify the Adaptability Test will not be allowed for further participation in recruitment process. Candidates will be allowed to carry their Smart Phones for the duration of Adaptability Test.

Medical Examination

Candidates qualified in PFT & PMT will have to undergo medical standards test or medical examination. You should have good mental health, natural healthy gum & teeth and robust physique without any diseases like deformity of bones, hydrocele and varicocele or piles. Hearing and binocular vision should be good. You should be able to read 6/6 in distant vision chart with each eye and the colour vision should be CP – III (able to recognize white, red & green signal colors correctly at 1.5 meters).

Preparation:

  • Clean your ears from a doctor.
  • Ensure cleanliness and hygiene of skin (take proper bath).
  • Get proper treatment for skin and other diseases.
  • Take proper haircut.
  • Trim hair (pvt parts and armpits).
  • Take proper nutrition and drink plenty of water.
  • Do regular physical workout and avoid injuries.

Body Tattoos: Permanent Body Tattoos will only be permitted on inner face of forearms (from inside of elbow to the wrist and on the reverse side of palm/ back side of hand). Permanent body tattoos on any other part of the body will not be acceptable.

Final Selection (Merit List)

After the medical exam, category/ post wise Merit List will be prepared on the basis of the overall marks secured by candidates in Physical Test (as applicable). Also, Bonus Marks (Special Concessions) will be applied as follows:

Bonus Marks (Special Concessions):
Son of Serving Soldier (SOS), Son of Ex-Serviceman (SOEX), Son of War Widows (SOWW), Son of Widow of Ex-Serviceman (SOW) Categories: 20 Marks
Widows of Defence person who have died in harness: 20 Marks

Sportsman:

  • Represented India at the International Level: 20 Marks
  • Represented State at the Senior/Junior National level: 15 Marks
  • Represented College / University in Inter University Championship: 10 Marks
  • Represented State at National Level: 10 Marks
  • Represented District at the State Level: 05 Marks
  • Represented State school team in All India School Games: 05 Marks

Bonus Marks for Computer/ ITI/ Diploma Course:
Agniveer Office Asst/ Clerk/ SKT candidates will be awarded 15 Bonus Marks for ‘O’ level (IT) Course Certificate issued by NIELIT and having higher level IT Courses Certificate from NIELIT i.e, ‘A’, ‘B’ or ‘C’ level. ‘O’ level IT course certificate under DOEACC scheme issued only by NIELIT on or after 01 Jan 2020 will be accepted.

Bonus marks to Agniveer (Technical) candidates for ITI Course/ Skill Qualification will be awarded as follows:
10th plus 02 years course at ITI – 20 Marks
10th plus 02/03 years Diploma – 30 Marks
12th plus 01 year course at ITI – 30 Marks
12th plus 02 years course at ITI – 40 Marks
12th plus Diploma holder – 50 Marks

Maximum bonus marks that can be given is 25 Marks even if a candidate qualifies for more than one type of bonus marks except Agniveer (Technical). Maximum bonus marks that can be given to Agniveer (Technical) is 50 Marks if he is qualified in ITI/Diploma.

Finally, after declaration of Result (Merit List) and Arms allotment, candidates will be dispatched to the Training Centres. The Result will be declared through the JIA official website (link is given below). No separate letter will be sent to the candidate. It is responsibility of candidate to check his result and report to ARO for documentation.
