CISF Constable Tradesman Selection Process 2025-2026
CISF Tradesman recruitment tests, selection procedure and syllabus/ pattern for Constable Cook, Cobbler, Tailor, Barber, Washerman, Sweeper, Painter, Carpenter, Electrician, Mali, Welder, Charge Mech and Motor Pump Attendant trades are given on this page. Candidates whose application forms are found to be in order will be issued Admit Card/ Call letter for the 1st stage indicating date, time and venue.
Thereafter, the candidates will have to go through various stages of the recruitment process in the following order:
- Height Bar Test (HBT)
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
- Physical Standard Test (PST)
- Documentation
- Trade Test
- Written Examination (OMR Based/ CBT mode)
- Medical Examination

CISF Tradesman Selection Procedure
The recruitment tests will be conducted by CISF at the respective Sectors/ centers. Admit Card will be available to download on the website cisfrectt.cisf.gov.in for each stage as Stage-1 (PET/ PST/ Documentation/ Trade Test), Stage-2 (Written Examination) and Stage-3 (Medical Examination) about 10 days before the exam.
The sequence of Stage-1 and Stage-2 may interchange at the discretion of CISF due to administrative reasons/ prevailing circumstances.
In addition to Admit Card, you will have to carry 04 passport size recent colour photographs (duly printed the date of photograph and should not be more than 03 months old) and 01 original valid Photo ID Proof at the exam center for identification purpose.
For the Photo ID Proof you may carry any one from Aadhaar Card, Driving License, Voter Card, PAN Card, Identity Card issued by University/ College/ School or any ID card issued by the Govt.
After verification of eligibility and biometric registration at recruitment center, candidates will be put through various selection tests as given in detail below:
Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Firstly, candidates will be put through the Height Bar Test. Then candidates qualified in Height Bar Test (HBT) will be put through Physical Efficiency Test (PET) by the Board of Officers. The PET will be qualifying in nature and it will not carry any marks. PET will not be held for Ex-servicemen candidates.
PET for male/ female Constable Tradesman (Cook, Cobbler, Tailor, Barber, Washerman, Sweeper, Painter, Carpenter, Electrician, Mali, Welder, Charge Mech and MP Attendant) consists of a Race event as per details given below:
Race:
Male candidates – 1.6 Kms Race within 06 Minutes 30 Seconds.
Female candidates – 800 Meters Race within 04 Minutes.
Physical Standard Test (PST)
Candidates qualified in PET will have to undergo Physical Standard Test (PST). The candidates will be screened for height, chest and weight by the Board of Officers. Physical Standards (Height, Chest and Weight) for Constable/ Tradesman (Cook, Cobbler, Tailor, Barber, Washerman, Sweeper, Painter, Carpenter, Electrician, Mali, Welder, Charge Mech and MP Attendant) will be measured as follows:
Height:
GEN/ SC/ OBC Candidates – Male: 170 Cms and Female: 157 Cms
ST Candidates – Male: 162.5 Cms and Female: 150 Cms
Garhwalis, Kumaonis, Gorkhas, Dogras, Marathas and candidates belonging to the States of Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir and Leh & Ladhakh regions of Jammu and Kashmir – Male: 165 Cms and Female: 157 Cms
Chest (for male candidates only):
GEN/ SC/ OBC Candidates – 80-85 Cms
ST Candidates – 76-81 Cms
Garhwalis, Kumaonis, Gorkhas, Dogras, Marathas and candidates belonging to the States of Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir and Leh & Ladhakh regions of Jammu and Kashmir – 78-83 Cms
Weight: Proportionate to height and age as per medical standards (for male and female candidates).

Documentation
Candidates qualified in PET/PST will be allowed to appear for Documentation (checking of original documents). In this stage candidates will have to produce all original documents/ certificates in proof of details as given in the application form. The following documents are required for Document Verification (DV):
- Educational certificates.
- Date of Birth certificate (Matriculation or 10th pass certificate).
- Domicile certificate issued by competent revenue authority to prove their domiciliary status.
- SC/ ST/ OBC/ EWS Certificate in the prescribed format (if applicable).
- Height and Chest relaxation certificate in the prescribed format (if applicable).
- Discharge certificate/ Certificate for serving Defence Personnel in the prescribed format.
- No Objection Certificate and Undertaking in the prescribed format (if serving in Govt/ Semi-Govt Department).
- In case of wards of serving CISF personnel, who are applying in State other than their Home State, certificate as per prescribed format.
- Four passport size recent photographs duly printed the date of photograph (i.e. not more than 03 months old from the date of publication of this Notification).
- Photo identification proof such as Driving License, Voter Card, Aadhaar Card, Identity Card issued by University/ College, Pan Card in original which he/she has mentioned in application form.
Trade Test
Candidates declared qualified in PET, PST and Documentation will have to go through the respective Trade Test, which will be qualifying in nature. The trade test for Constable/ Tradesman (Cook, Cobbler, Tailor, Barber, Washerman, Sweeper, Painter, Carpenter, Electrician, Mali, Welder, Charge Mech and MP Attendant) will be conducted as follows:
Cook – Cooking of Chapati & Rice; Cooking of vegetable/ Dal/ Samber/ Idli etc; Cooking of Meat/ Fish/ Egg/ Kheer.
Boot Maker/ Cobbler – Polishing of shoes; Handling of tools; Cutting of leather repair & stitching of Shoes.
Tailor – Taking measurement of personnel; Cutting of cloths; Stitching of Uniforms.
Barber – Handling of tools; Hair Cutting; Shaving.
Washer Man – Washing of clothes; Ironing of Khaki Cotton Uniform; Ironing of woolen and Terry cotton Uniforms.
Sweeper – Sweeping; Cleaning of toilets; Cleaning of Bathrooms etc.
Painter – Knowledge of colours, paints and shades; Painting of sign-boards; Painting/ drawing.
Carpenter – Handling of tools; Cutting of wood; Fitting, polishing and finishing of material.
Electrician – Knowledge of AC/DC current; New Electric Fitting; Rectification of Electric fault.
Mali – Plantations and making grafts; Maintenance of plants; Knowledge of seeds and their sowing season, Fertilizers in seeti deseeti; Knowledge of indigenous manures.
Welder – Knowledge of welding tools; ARC Welding- Practical; Gas Welding- Practical.
Charge Mech – Knowledge of AC & DC current; Knowledge of voltage receiving/ distribution/ consumption; Knowledge of switch boards & fault attendance.
Motor Pump Attendant (MP Attend) – Knowledge of Pump; Knowledge of Motor; Knowledge of repair.
Mason – Preparation of ‘Mashala’, Mason/ Construction work, Plastering work, Laying down floor tiles and plastering floor.
Plumber – To lay pipe line, Repair of water pipe line, Fitting of Taps, Geyser, Flush and Wash Basin.
Written Examination
Candidates qualified in the PET, PST, Documentation and Trade Test will be called for the Examination under OMR/ Computer Based Test (CBT) Mode.
Written Exam Syllabus/ Pattern – CISF Tradesman written exam will be of 02 Hours duration and will consist of total 100 objective type questions (01 mark each) of maximum 100 Marks. The question paper will be set both in Hindi and English. There will be no negative marking for wrong answers given by candidates.
The question paper will include questions based on the following:
- General Awareness/ General Knowledge
- Knowledge of Elementary Mathematics
- Analytical Aptitude and Ability to Observe and Distinguish Patterns
- Basic Knowledge of English/ Hindi Language
Minimum cut off marks to qualify in Written Exam:
UR/ EWS/ Ex-Servicemen category – 35% Marks
SC/ ST/ OBC category – 33% Marks

Merit List
After completion of PET/PST, Documentation, Trade Test and Written Examination, Recruitment Sector-wise, Trade-wise and Category-wise merit list for UR, SC, ST, OBC, EWS and Ex-servicemen will be drawn separately on the basis of aggregate marks obtained in written examination. Final merit list or result will be declared through the official website.
Medical Examination (DME/ RME)
Finally, candidates will be called for Detailed Medical Examination (DME) on the basis of written examination merit. The candidates will be medically examined to assess their physical and medical fitness as per Medical Standards. Candidates declared unfit during Detailed Medical Examination (DME) will be allowed to undergo Review Medical Examination (RME).
Minimum distant vision should be 6/6 and 6/9 of two eyes without correction i.e. without wearing of glasses. The candidate must not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes and they should possess high colour vision. He/she must be in good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of the duties.
Tattoos depicting religious symbol or figures and the name, as followed in Indian Army are to be permitted. Tattoos marked on traditional sites of the body like inner aspect of fore arm, but only left forearm, being non saluting limb or dorsum of the hands are to be allowed. The size must be less than ¼ of the particular part (Elbow or Hand) of the body.
