All the Agniveers of Uttarakhand will now get 10% horizontal reservation in uniformed posts like constable, SI, forest guard, forester etc of Group C. After the decision taken in the cabinet, the Personnel Department has issued the new rules. The benefit of reservation quota will be given in the recruitment of various posts in five departments including Home, Forest, Excise, Transport and Secretariat Administration.
Uttarakhand Agniveer Reservation Quota in Jobs
Relieved Agniveers from Indian Armed Forces (Army, Navy and Air Force) will get 10% reservation in the uniformed posts of Police Constable (Civil/PAC), Sub Inspector Civil Police, Platoon Commander PAC, Fireman, Fire Station Second Officer, Bandi Rakshak, Deputy Jailer, Forest Guard, Van Daroga (Forester), Abkari Sipahi, Pravartan Sipahi and Sachivalaya Rakshak.
Agniveers have been given the benefit of ten percent horizontal reservation in the uniformed services of various departments after discharged on completion of four years of service in the Indian Armed Forces. Being a military dominated state, a large number of youth of the state will benefit from this order.
Along with reservation, Agniveers will get exemption from physical efficiency test in direct recruitment process. Also, they will be given relaxation in maximum age limit equal to the total service period as Agniveer in the Armed Forces (Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force).
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said, “Agniveers returning after serving the country are the pride of the state. This decision is a concrete step towards securing the future of retired Agniveers. Our government is trying to provide employment to ex-servicemen and Agniveers in every possible way.”
The benefit of 10% reservation quota will be applicable to uniformed posts under Group C of five departments, details of which are as follows:
- Home Department: Police Constable (Civil/ PAC), Sub Inspector (Civil Police), Platoon Commander (PAC), Firemen, Fire Station Second Officer, Jail Bandi Rakshak (Warder) and Deputy Jailor.
- Forest Department: Forest Guard and Van Daroga (Forester).
- Excise Department: Abkari Constable.
- Transport Department: Enforcement Constable.
- Secretariat Administration Department: Sachivalaya Rakshak.
Agniveer Horizontal Reservation Rules
The Personnel Department issued its rules named “The Uttarakhand, Horizontal Reservation for Ex-Agniveers for Employment on Uniformed Posts of Direct Recruitment of Group ‘C’ in the service under the State Rules, 2025“, the main points of which are as follows:
Commencement of Rules
These rules shall come into force at once. These rules shall be applicable only in respect of direct recruitment to uniformed posts of Group C (within and outside the purview of the Commission) on Ex-Agniveers who are native/ permanent residents of Uttarakhand State and who have retired from the Indian Armed forces (Army, Navy and Air Force) as Agniveers, in the State Services under the control of the State Government;
Provided that the provisions of these rules shall not apply in respect of the Dependent of martyred soldiers of the Indian Army/ Paramilitary Forces (permanent resident of Uttarakhand) on Compassionate basis in State services Employment Rules, 2018 (as amended time to time).
Reservation Certificate for Employment
Ex-Agniveers, who have been issued a discharge certificate from the Indian Armed Forces as Agniveers and whose credentials have been duly verified by the competent authority based on the requisite documents, and who are registered with the office of the competent authority of the concerned district, shall be granted 10% horizontal reservation in employment to Group ‘C’ uniformed posts.
Exemption in Physical Test
Ex-Agniveers shall be exempted from the Physical Efficiency Test in the process of direct recruitment.
Relaxation in Age Limit
Ex-Agniveers shall be granted relaxation in the upper age limit for direct recruitment equivalent to the total period of service rendered as an Agniveer in the Indian Armed Forces.
