Indian Navy has invited applications for enrolment as Agniveer MR (Musician) for 02/2026 Batch commencing in July 2026. All eligible 10th pass unmarried male and female candidates having Musical Ability can apply online for Navy Musician Bharti Vacancies through joinindiannavy.gov.in from 11 to 26 April 2026. Indian Navy Musician Recruitment 2026-2027 as application form, salary, eligibility criteria, selection process, physical, written exam, dates, notification etc info is given below.
Indian Navy Musician Recruitment 02/2026
Pay, Allowances and Allied Benefits – Agniveer will be paid a package of ₹30,000 per month with a fixed yearly increment as per Agnipath Scheme. In addition, risk and hardship, dress and travel allowances will be paid.
Total Number of Vacancies – The distribution of vacancies for male and female for MR Musician 02/2026 Batch will be decided based on service requirement.
Eligibility Criteria – Eligibility criteria like age limit, educational qualification, musical ability, proficiency and experience for Indian Navy Musician is as follows:
Age Limit – Candidate should be born between 01 Jul 2004 to 31 Dec 2008 (both dates inclusive). No age relaxation is permissible.
Educational Qualification – 10th Pass (Matriculation) with minimum 50% marks in aggregate from the Boards of School Education recognized by Ministry of Education, Govt of India.
Musical Ability – Candidates should have proficiency and aptitude for music with accuracy in Tempo, Pitch and singing one complete song. Candidates should also have practical skill on any instrument of Indian or foreign origin with proficiency in tuning of instrument, matching unknown notes with instrument, prepared piece, sight reading of Indian Classical/ Tabulature/ Staff Notation, performance of Scale/ Raaga/ Taala and basic theory of Indian or International music.
The candidate should be able to:
1. Sing and match pitch with notes played on the keyboard by the examiner.
2. Clap and imitate a short Rhythm sounded by examiner.
3. Sing any well-known song in tune.
4. Perform a prepared piece of music on his/ her instrument.
5. Sight-read Indian/ Western Classical Notation.
6. Possess theoretical knowledge of Taal/ Raag/ Scales.
The candidates would be required to perform with expertise on one or more instruments such as Keyboard/ String/ Wind instruments or any other instrument of Indian or Foreign origin.
Candidates performing on Indefinite Pitch Instruments such as Jazz Drums set, Brass Drum, Snare Drums, Side Drums, Cymbals, Non Chromatic instruments such as Bugle & monotone instruments used to produce only one note or drone will not be eligible for recruitment.
Musical Experience Certificate:
1. Candidates performing Hindustani or Carnatic Classical music on Wind Instruments will require a musical experience certificate from any recognized musical Institute or organization of repute.
2. A certificate of minimum initial grade from international boards such as Trinity College of Music, London, or Royal School of Music London etc, will be mandatory for candidates performing western notation or western music on wind instruments.
3. Other candidates will be required to submit certificates of participation/ awards presented at various events.

Selection Process, Physical and Written Exam
Indian Navy Agniveer MR Musician is selected as per the merit list prepared on the basis of performance in Music Ability Test. The selection process consists of Shortlisting, Physical Fitness Test (PFT), Written Examination, Music Ability Test and Recruitment Medical Examination as given in detail below:
Shortlisting
Shortlisting of candidates for recruitment process will be based on marks obtained in the matriculation examination. Only candidates holding valid music certificates (Degree/ Diploma/ Grade/ Certificate of Competitions) will be considered for shortlisting.
Shortlisted candidates will be issued call-up letter for Physical Fitness Test (PFT), Written Examination, Music Ability Test and Recruitment Medical Examination. Candidates declared qualified in PFT, Written Examination and Music Ability Test will have to undergo Recruitment Medical Examination. The recruitment will most likely be held in early June 2026 at the centres allocated by the Indian Navy.
Admit Card (Call letter) to all shortlisted candidates indicating date, time and place for Recruitment Process will be uploaded on the official website tentatively by 10 May 2026. All original music certificates, mark sheets and Domicile certificate (which have been uploaded whilst filling online application) are to be produced at the time of recruitment process.
Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
The PFT for male candidates consists of 1.6 Km run within 06 Minutes 30 Seconds, 20 Squats (Uthak Baithak), 15 Push-ups and 15 Bent Knee Sit-ups. While, the PFT for female candidates consists of 1.6 Km run within 08 Minutes, 15 Squats (Uthak Baithak), 10 Push-ups and 10 Bent Knee Sit-ups.
Physical Fitness Test will be conducted for all candidates and qualifying in PFT is mandatory for selection. Proficiency in sports, swimming and extra-curricular activities is desirable.
Written Examination
Candidates declared qualified in PFT will have to appear for a Written Test (offline) consisting of 50 multiple choice questions carrying 01 mark each. All candidates scoring 13 or more marks out of 50 will be shortlisted for the Musical Ability Test (MAT).
The details of the Indian Navy Musician (MR) written examination are as follows:
1. The question paper will consist of 50 questions, each carrying 01 mark.
2. The question paper will be bilingual (Hindi & English) and objective type (multiple choice).
3. The question paper will have two sections i.e. Science & Mathematics and General Awareness.
4. The level of the question paper will be as per the syllabus of class 10th. Sample papers for the exam are available on the official website.
5. The duration of the exam will be 30 minutes.
6. Candidates are required to pass both the sections as well as in aggregate. Indian Navy reserves the right to decide the pass marks for each section and overall.
Music Ability Test
All the candidates qualified in PFT and Written Examination will be required to appear in Music Ability Test. The final selection of the candidates will be done on the basis of performance in Musical Ability Test.
Recruitment Medical Examination
The medical exam will be carried out for candidates who qualify Music Ability Test and PFT. Candidates qualifying Recruitment Medical Examination will be considered for Final Medical Examination at INS Chilka, Odisha. Candidates found unfit in Recruitment Medical Examination will be allowed to appeal against its findings at designated Military Hospital (allocated by the Indian Navy) within 05 days.
Merit List
Candidates who qualify the PFT, Written Examination and Recruitment Medical Examination will be considered for compilation of the final merit list. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of performance in the Music Ability Test and will be compiled on All India basis. Indian Navy Musician Result will be published on the candidates’ dashboard on the official website by early July 2026.
Thereafter, all selected candidates will have to undergo Final Medical Examination at INS Chilka (Odisha).
Medical Standards:
Height – Minimum 157 Cms for male and female candidates.
Chest – Minimum 5 Cms expansion
Weight – Proportionate to height and age as per medical standards.
Visual Standards:
Uncorrected Vision – 6/12, 6/12
Corrected Vision – 6/6, 6/6
Colour Perception – CP Pass
The candidates must be in good physical and medical health free from any defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of duties both ashore and afloat. Candidates are advised to get their ears cleaned for wax and tartar removed from teeth prior to examination.
Permanent body tattoos are only permitted on inner face of forearms i.e from inside of elbow to the wrist and back (dorsal) part of hand/reverse side of palm. Permanent body tattoos on any other part of the body is not acceptable and candidate will be banned from recruitment.

Application Form, Important Dates and Notification
Eligible and desirous candidates are required to register (if not registered already) and submit online application form for the Indian Navy MR Musician Recruitment on the website joinindiannavy.gov.in from 11th April to 26th April 2026. Keep ready scanned copies of color photograph with blue background, 10th mark sheet & certificate, music certificates, domicile certificate etc required documents to upload online.

After successful registration of online form take a copy of the system generated application form for further requirements. You’ll have to carry all original certificates, music certificates, domicile certificate, mark sheet and call letter (admit card) at the time of recruitment process.
