Coast Guard Assistant Commandant Recruitment 2025-2026

Indian Coast Guard invites applications for recruitment to the post of Assistant Commandant General Duty and Technical (Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics) for 2027 Batch commencing in Early Jan 2027. All eligible male candidates can apply online for the ICG AC Bharti Vacancies through joinindiancoastguard.cdac.in up to 23rd Jul 2025. ICG Assistant Commandant Recruitment (2027 Batch)

Pay Scale – Starting Basic Pay Rs 56100/- (as per 7th CPC Pay level-10) plus allowances.

Total Number of Vacancies – 170 Posts

ICG Assistant Commandant Vacancy Details:

General Duty (GD) – 140 (UR-46, EWS-10, SC-25, ST-24, OBC-35)
Technical (Engg/ Elect) – 30 (UR-13, EWS-02, SC-03, ST-04, OBC-08)

There are no vacancies advertised for CPL (SSA) and Law Entry for 2027 Batch.

Age Limit:

Assistant Commandant GD (Male) – 21 to 25 years as on 01st Jul 2026 i.e. candidate should be born between 01 Jul 2001 and 30 Jun 2005 (Both dates inclusive). Relaxation of 05 years will be applicable for personnel serving in Coast Guard or equivalent personnel in Army/ Navy/ Air Force.

Assistant Commandant Technical (Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics) (Male) – 21 to 25 years as on 01st Jul 2026 i.e. candidate should be born between 01 Jul 2001 and 30 Jun 2005 (Both dates inclusive). Relaxation of 05 years will be applicable for personnel serving in Coast Guard.

Educational Qualification:

General Duty – Bachelor’s Degree from any recognized university with Mathematics and Physics as subject up to Intermediate or Class 12th of 10+2+3 scheme of education or equivalent.

Technical (Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics) – Engineering degree in Naval Architecture or Mechanical or Marine or Automotive or Mechatronics or Industrial and Production or Metallurgy or Design or Aeronautical or Aerospace. OR

Engineering degree in Electrical or Electronics or Telecommunication or Instrumentation or Instrumentation and Control or Electronics & Communication or Power Engineering or Power Electronics with Mathematics and Physics as subject up to Intermediate or Class 12th of 10+2+3 scheme of education or equivalent.

Commercial Pilot Entry CPL SSA – 12th Pass (Physics and Mathematics) with 55% aggregate marks in Mathematics & Physics and should have current/ valid Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) issued/ validated by Director General Of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

Law – Degree in Law (03 years degree in Law after graduation or 05 years degree after 10+2) with minimum 60% Marks from a recognized university.

Coast Guard Assistant Commandant Selection Process

The ICG AC Selection Process consists of Stage-I (CGCAT), Stage-II (PSB), Stage-III (FSB), Stage-IV (Medical Examination) and Stage-V (Induction), details of which are as follows:

Coast Guard Common Admission Test (CGCAT)

Eligible candidates will be called for Screening Test (Computer Based Examination) in MCQ pattern to be conducted at various centers all over India. The screening test will be be conducted for candidates applying for the post of GD/CPL and Technical (Mechanical/ Electrical & Electronics).

The screening test will be of maximum 400 Marks consisting 100 Questions with 04 marks for each correct answer and 01 negative marking for each incorrect answer. The exam will be of 02 Hours duration and the medium of test paper will be English. The result of Stage-I Exam will be announced tentatively within 30 days.

Subject wise distribution of marks for the combined test is as follows:

  • English: 25 Questions (100 Marks)
  • Reasoning and Numerical Ability: 25 Questions (100 Marks)
  • General Science and Mathematical Aptitude: 25 Questions (100 Marks)
  • General Knowledge: 25 Questions (100 Marks)

Preliminary Selection Board (PSB)

candidates shortlisted in Stage-I (CGCAT) on the basis of merit will be allowed to appear in Stage-II (PSB) at Noida, Goa, Chennai, Kolkata, Shillong/ Guwahati and Gandhinagar centres. Candidates reporting for Stage-II will first undergo photo and biometric verification.

Thereafter, candidates will be screened through Computerised Cognitive Battery Test (CCBT) and Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PP&DT). The Stage-II exam will be qualifying in nature. Candidates qualified in PSB will have to undergo documents verification.

Final Selection Board (FSB)

Candidates declared qualified in Stage-II (PSB) will be called for Final Selection Board / FSB (Psychological Test, Group Task and Interview/ Personality test). The schedule of Stage-III will be intimated to the candidate through personal Login IDs. FSB will be conducted at the Coast Guard Selection Board (CGSB) located at Noida and spans over four/five days.

Medical Examination

Candidates declared qualified in Stage-III (FSB) will have to undergo a special medical examination at Base Hospital New Delhi as per the medical standards. Candidates declared unfit in Special Medical Board (SMB) will be allowed to appear for Review Medical Board (RMB).

Physical and Medical Standards:

Height:

Assistant Commandant GD and Technical – Minimum 157 Cms. Relaxation in height for candidates from hilly areas and tribal areas will be applicable as per the Central Govt regulations.
Asst Commandant (CPL-SSA) (Men/ Women) – Minimum 162.5 Cms and maximum 197 Cms, leg length minimum 99 Cms.

Weight: Proportionate to height and age (±10% acceptable).

Chest: Well proportionate, minimum expansion 5 Cms.

Eye Sight:

Assistant Commandant (GD) – Uncorrected without Glass: 6/6, 6/9 and Corrected with Glass: 6/6, 6/6.
Assistant Commandant (Technical) – Uncorrected without Glass: 6/36, 6/36 and Corrected with Glass: 6/6, 6/6.

Tattoo: Permanent body tattoos are not permitted on any part of the body. However, certain concessions are permitted to candidates belonging to tribal areas/ communities as declared by the Govt of India. For other candidates permanent body tattoos are only permitted on inner face of forearms i.e. from inside of elbow to the wrist and on the reverse side of palm/back (dorsal) side of hand.

Induction

For final selection, All India Merit List will be prepared for the medically fit candidates on the basis of combined marks obtained in Stage-I (CGCAT) and Stage-III (FSB) depending upon the availability of vacancies. The list of candidates selected on the basis of merit will be uploaded on Indian Coast Guard recruitment website during the month of December 2026.

The training (GD 44 weeks & Technical 22 weeks of Naval Orientation Course followed by ab-initio training at various training establishments/ units/ ships of Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard) of selected candidates will commence in early Jan 2027 at INA Ezhimala.

Before applying online, keep ready scanned copies of Photograph, Signature, Left and Right-Hand thumb impression, Date of Birth certificate, Identity proof and Domicile certificate to upload with the online application.

The exam date, time, centre/ venue and other information will be intimated through e-admit card. The Admit Card (Call letter) will be available to download/ reprint through official website about 02-03 days prior to examination.
