Eligibility Criteria (Age and Qualification)
The eligibility criteria like age limit, educational qualification, experience and physical for SSC Translator Recruitment are as follows:
Age Limit:
CRPF Sub Inspector (Hindi Translator) – 18 to 30 years as on 26 Jun 2025 i.e. candidate must be born between 25 Jun 1995 to 26 Jun 2007 (both dates inclusive). Relaxation in upper age limit for SC, ST, OBC, Ex-Servicemen and other categories is applicable as per Govt rules.
All Other Posts – 18 to 30 years as on 01 Aug 2025 i.e. candidate must be born between 02 Aug 1995 to 01 Aug 2007 (both dates inclusive). Relaxation in upper age limit for SC, ST, OBC, Ex-Servicemen and other categories is applicable as per Govt rules.
Educational Qualification:
Master’s degree in Hindi with English as a compulsory/ elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level. OR
Master’s degree in English with Hindi as a compulsory/ elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level. OR
Master’s degree in any subject other than Hindi/ English, with Hindi medium and English as a compulsory/ elective subject or as the medium of a examination at the degree level. OR
Master’s degree in any subject other than Hindi/ English, with English medium and Hindi as a compulsory/ elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level. OR
Master’s degree in any subject other than Hindi/ English, with Hindi and English as compulsory/ elective subjects or either of the two as a medium of exam and the other as a compulsory/ elective subject at degree level.

Garhwali, Kumaoni, Gorkha, Dogra, Maratha and candidates from Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, UT of Jammu & Kashmir and UT of Ladakh – Male: 162.5 Cms and Female: 150 Cms.
ST Category – Male: 162.5 Cms and Female: 150 Cms.
Chest (For Male candidates only):

Weight (for Male and Female): Proportionate to height and age as per medical standards.
SSC Translator Selection Process and Exam Syllabus
The recruitment process consists of Paper-1 (Objective Type Computer Based Examination), Paper-2 (Descriptive Type Examination) and Document verification. Candidates shortlisted in Paper-1 Exam will be allowed to appear for the Paper-2 Exam. Thereafter, on the basis of performance in Paper-1 and Paper-2, candidates will be shortlisted for document verification.
Final selection and allocation of Ministries/ Departments will be based on performance in Paper 1 plus Paper 2 Exam and the preference of Posts/ Departments.
Paper-I (Objective Type Computer Based Exam) – 02 Hours duration
General Hindi: 100 Questions (100 Marks)
General English: 100 Questions (100 Marks)
Syllabus: The questions will be designed to test the candidates’ understanding of the languages and literature, correct use of words, phrases and idioms and ability to write the languages correctly, precisely and effectively. The questions will be of degree level.
Paper-2 (Descriptive Type Examination) – 02 Hours duration
Translation and Essay: 200 Marks
Syllabus: The 2nd paper will contain two passages for translation- one passage for translation from Hindi to English and one passage for translation from English to Hindi, and an Essay each in Hindi and English, to test the candidates’ translation skills and their ability to write as well as comprehend the two languages correctly, precisely and effectively.
Qualifying marks in Paper 1st (Computer Based Exam):
UR Category – Minimum 30%
OBC/ EWS Category – Minimum 25%
Other Categories: – Minimum 20%

Application form, Important Dates and Notification
Eligible and interested candidates are required to submit online application form for the SSC Translator JHT JTO SHT SI Recruitment Exam through the website ssc.gov.in up to 26th Jun 2025. You have to complete the online application process consisting two parts as One Time Registration and Filling of online Application.
One Time Registration part is for filling the basic information (Mobile number, Email, Aadhaar Number, Name, Father’s name, Mother’s name, date of birth etc) and Filling of online Application part is for personal details, educational details, uploading documents, preference for exam centers, payment of fee etc.
Candidates are advised to read the instructions as mentioned in the recruitment notification and fill all the required details carefully while filling up the registration part and application part.
Application fee: Rs 100/- (Rs one hundred only).
The application fee can be paid through BHIM UPI, Net Banking or by using Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, RuPay Credit or Debit card. SC, ST, Persons with disability, Ex-serviceman and Female candidates are exempted from payment of application fee.
SSC Translator Admit Card – Admit Card for the SSC Translator exam will not be sent by Post. Candidates will have to download SSC Translator Admit Card (Call letter) online through the website of concerned Regional/ Sub Regional Office.
