Army Havildar SAC Recruitment, Syllabus and Physical Test

Indian Army invites applications for recruitment to the post of Havildar (Surveyor Automated Cartographer) or Hav (Svy Auto Carto). All eligible male candidates can apply online for the Havildar Surveyor Auto Cartographer Bharti Vacancies through the website joinindianarmy.nic.in up to 25th Apr 2025 (extended). Indian Army Havildar SAC Recruitment 2025-2026

Surveyor Automated Cartographer are directly recruited as Havildar into the Corps of Engineers. The duties of SAC include the advancement in the field of Digital Cartography, GIS and also the integration of GIS enabled Decision Support Systems as Force Multipliers in the Indian Army.

Pay Scale – Rs 5200-20200 (PB-1) with Grade Pay Rs 2800 plus Military Service Pay (Rs 2000) plus other allowances.

Eligibility Criteria – Indian Army Havildar (SAC) eligibility criteria in terms of age limit and educational qualification is as follows:

Age Limit:

Civilian Candidates – 20 to 25 Years as on 01st Oct 2025 i.e. candidate should be born between 01 Oct 2000 and 01 Oct 2005 inclusive of both dates.
In-Service Candidates – Below 28 Years as on 01st Oct 2025 i.e. candidate should not be born before 01 Oct 1997.

Educational Qualification – BA/BSc with Mathematics and should have passed 12th Class (10+2) or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects (minimum 50% marks in each of them). OR

Bachelor of Engineering (BE) / Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree in Civil/ Electronic/ Electrical/ Instrumentation/ Mechanical/ Computer Technology/ Computer Science from any recognised University and should have passed 12th Class (10+2) or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects (minimum 50% marks in each of them).

Note: The above educational qualifications are common for Civilian (Direct Entry) and Serving Soldier (In-Service) candidates.

Havildar SAC Selection Process, CEE Syllabus and Physical Test

Indian Army Havildar (Surveyor Automated Cartographer or SAC) recruitment process consists of 02 Phases as follows:

  • Phase 1: Common Entrance Examination (CEE).
  • Phase 2: Recruitment Rally (Documentation, Physical Fitness Test, Physical Measurement Test, Adaptability Test and Medical examination).

The latest and detailed selection process for Indian Army Havildar (SAC) is as follows (step by step):

Common Entrance Examination (CEE)

Firstly, Admit Card will be issued for Common Entrance Examination (CEE) to all candidates whose online application forms are found to be in order. Candidates will have to download Havildar SAC Admit Card through official website and carry a colour printout at the Computer Based exam centre. Entry gates at exam center will be opened one and a half hour prior to scheduled time of exams and will close 30 minutes prior to time of exam.

Havildar SAC exam consists of a single paper consisting of two parts as per the pattern and syllabus given below:

  • Part-1 (Mathematics): 50 Questions (100 Marks)
  • Part-2 (Physics and Chemistry): 50 Questions (100 Marks)

Each part consists of total 50 Objective Type questions (02 Marks each) carrying maximum 100 Marks. Questions in Part-1 will be based on Mathematics subject, while questions in Part-2 will be based on Physics and Chemistry subjects (25 questions from each subject). The exam will be of total 02 Hours duration.

No negative marking will be applicable in Havildar SAC Exam. To pass CEE you must obtain minimum 40% Marks in Part 1 & 2 (passing in both parts is mandatory). Candidates declared successful in Phase-1 (CEE) will be shortlisted for Phase-2 (Recruitment Rally).

Army Havildar SAC Syllabus (CEE Exam):

Mathematics – Algebra, Vector Algebra & Trigonometry; Matrices & Determinants; Analytical & 3D Geometry; Integral & Differential Calculus; Probability and Statistics; Number Systems & Complex numbers; Fundamental arithmetical operations & Mensuration; Area, Volume and Surface Area; Binomial theorem & Sequence and series; Permutation and Combination.

Physics – Physical Properties and States of Matter, Mass, Weight, Volume, Density and Specific Gravity, Principle of Archimedes, Pressure Barometer, Motion of objects, Velocity and Acceleration, Newton’s Laws of Motion, Force and Momentum, Parallelogram of Forces, Stability and Equilibrium o bodies, Gravitation, elementary ideas of work, Power and Energy, Heat and its Effects, Sound waves and their properties, Reflection and refraction.

Spherical mirrors and Lenses, Type and properties of magnet, Static and Current Electricity, conductors and Non-conductors, Ohms Law, Simple Electrical Circuits, Heating.

Chemistry – Physical and Chemical changes. Elements, Mixtures and Compounds, Symbols, Formulae and simple Chemical Equations, Law of Chemical Combination, Properties of Air and Water, Preparation and Properties of Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen and Carbon dioxide, Oxidation and Reduction, Acids, bases and salts, Carbon and its forma, Natural and Artificial Fertilizers, Elementary ideas about the Structure of Atom, Atomic, Equivalent and Molecular Weights, Valency.

After completion of CEE, candidates will be shortlisted proportionate to the available vacancies by applying a cut off in written exam result. The Roll Number of the candidates who are in merit will be published on the JIA official website. Thereafter, shortlisted candidates will be issued admit card for Phase-2 (Recruitment Rally) as per the Schedule of AROs.

Recruitment Rally (Documentation, Physical Fitness Test, Physical Measurement Test, Adaptability Test and Medical examination) for Havildar SAC will be conducted at respective HQ Recruiting Zone/ Regimental Centres as per the details below:

Documents Verification

You will have to report on the date and time as per Phase II Admit Card at the rally venue along with the following required documents/ certificates in original along with two self-attested photocopies:

  • Admit Card printed on good quality paper.
  • Twenty (20) copies of unattested Passport size colour photographs developed on good quality photographic paper in white background not more than three months old. Computerized/ photocopied/ shopped photographs will not be accepted. Photographs must be with proper hair cut and clean shave (except Sikh candidates).
  • Education certificates with marks sheet of all educational qualifications i.e. 10th/ 12th etc achieved from recognized School/ College/ Board/ University. Candidates with Matric certificate from Open School should carry School Leaving Certificate countersigned by BEO/ DEO.
  • Domicile Certificate with photograph issued by Tehsildar/ District Magistrate.
  • Caste Certificate affixed with photograph of the candidate issued by the Tehsildar/ District Magistrate.
  • College Character Certificate issued by the Principal where the candidates last studied.
  • Character Certificate with photograph issued by Village Sarpanch/ Municipal Corporation within last 06 months.
  • Relationship Certificate issued by concerned Record Officer for Son of Serviceman/ Ex-servicemen, Son of War Widow/ Son of Widow (if applicable).
  • Affidavit duly signed by candidate on Rs 10/- Non-Judicial Paper in the prescribed format duly attested by Notary.
  • PAN Card and Aadhar Card.
  • Police Character Certificate.
  • Sarpanch/ Nagar Sewak (Residence proof).

Physical Fitness Test (PFT)

Run – 1.6 Kms within 06 Minutes 15 Seconds.
Pull Up (Beam) – Minimum 06
Zig Zag Balance – Qualify
09 Feet Ditch – Qualify

Provisions of extra time for run/ race in Hilly Terrain Areas: Between 5000 feet to 9000 feet- Additional 30 Seconds and Between 9000 feet to 12000 feet- Additional 120 Seconds.

The PFT will be qualifying in nature and candidates will have to qualify in all the physical fitness tests. Marks obtained in PFT will not be considered while finalizing the final merit.

Physical Measurement Test (PMT)

Candidates qualified in PFT will have to undergo PMT. The Physical Standards (Height, Chest and Weight) for Indian Army Havildar Surveyor Auto Cartographer (HAV SAC) will be measured as follows:

Western Himalayan (Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab Hills, Garhwal and Kumaon Uttarakhand) – Height: 163 Cms, Chest: 77 Cms and Weight: 48 Kg.

Western Plains (Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan and Western Uttar Pradesh- Meerut and Agra Division) – Height: 170 Cms, Chest: 77 Cms and Weight: 50 Kg.

Eastern Himalayan (Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam and Hill Region of West Bengal) – Height: 160 Cms, Chest: 77 Cms and Weight: 48 Kg.

Eastern Plains (Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Orissa) – Height: 169 Cms, Chest: 77 Cms and Weight: 50 Kg.

Central Plains (Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Dadar, Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu) – Height: 168 Cms, Chest: 77 Cms and Weight: 50 Kg.

Southern Plains (Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Goa and Puducherry) – Height: 166 Cms, Chest: 77 Cms and Weight: 50 Kg.

Gorkhas – Height: 157 Cms, Chest: 77 Cms and Weight: 48 Kg.

Ladakhi – Height: 157 Cms, Chest: 77 Cms and Weight: 50 Kg.

Andaman & Nicobar Island, Lakshadweep Group including Minicoy (Locals) – Height: 155 Cms, Chest: 77 Cms and Weight: 50 Kg.

Andaman & Nicobar Island, Lakshadweep Group including Minicoy (Settlers) – Height: 165 Cms, Chest: 77 Cms and Weight: 50 Kg.

Adaptability Test

Candidates declared qualified in PFT and PMT will be put through Adaptability Test as per policy in vogue. Adaptability Test is for selection of candidates who can adapt to the environment of the Indian Army and are able to adapt to the challenges of military life. Those candidates who qualify the Adaptability Test will be eligible for Medical Exam and further recruitment process.

Medical Examination

Candidates qualified in Adaptability Test will have to undergo detailed Medical examination. Candidates should have robust physique and mental health, chest should be well developed having minimum 5 Cms expansion, should have normal hearing with each ear, should have sufficient number of natural teeth i.e. 14 dental points with healthy gums. Candidate should not have diseases like deformity of bones, hydrocele, varicose veins or piles.

Final Merit (Result)

Final selection of candidates will be based on merit list prepared on the basis of the total marks obtained in Written Exam (CEE).

The selected candidates will have to undergo 19 Weeks of Basic Military Training at Bombay Engineer Group and Centre, Roorkee. On successful completion of 58 Weeks Basic Technical Training the candidates will be enrolled in the rank of Havildar (Surveyor Automated Cartographer) as per the existing terms and conditions.

Application Form, Important Dates and Notification

Eligible and interested male candidates are required to apply online for the Indian Army Havildar Surveyor Automated Cartographer Recruitment through the website joinindianarmy.nic.in. Candidates will have to register online (if not registered already) and submit online application form. In-service candidates will also have to forward the application form (as per the prescribed format) to respective Record Offices along with attested photocopies of character certificate, 10th & 12th certificate, graduation qualification, domicile and detailed marks sheet separately for each year of UG/PG in Religious qualification. Examination fee – All candidates will have to pay Rs 250/- plus banking charges (as applicable) for the online examination. The payment can be made through Maestro, Master Card, VISA, Rupay Cards both Credit & Debit of all major banks, Internet banking and UPI.
