Intelligence Bureau Security Assistant Recruitment 2025

Post Name – Security Assistant/ Executive (General Central Service, Group C, Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial).

Pay Scale – Rs 21700-69100 (Pay matrix level-3) plus admissible Central Govt allowances. Special Security Allowance @ 20% of basic pay in addition to other Govt allowances. Cash compensation for duty performed on holidays, up to a maximum of 30 days.

Total Number of Vacancies – 4987 Posts (Group C)

Age Limit – 18 to 27 years as on 17 Aug 2025. Relaxation in upper age limit for SC, ST, OBC, Ex-servicemen, departmental candidates and other categories is applicable as per Govt rules.

Educational Qualification – 10th Pass (Matriculation) or equivalent from a recognized Board. The candidate must have domicile certificate of the state for which he/she wants to apply. Field experience in Intelligence work is desirable.

Khufia Vibhag SA Selection Process and Exam Pattern

The recruitment process consists of Tier-I (Objective Type Examination), Tier-II (Descriptive Type Examination) and Tier-III (Interview/ Personality Test) followed by Character & Antecedents Verification and Medical Examination, details of which are given below.

Tier-I (Objective Exam)

It will be of 01 Hour duration and will consist of a total of 100 objective type multiple choice questions (01 mark each) carrying maximum 100 Marks. There will be negative marking of ¼ marks for each wrong answer. Based on the performance in Tier-I examination, candidates 10 times the number of vacancies will be shortlisted for Tier-II examination.

The question paper of Khufiya Vibhag Security Assistant Tier-I exam is divided into 05 parts as per the pattern given below:

  • General Awareness: 20 Questions (20 Marks)
  • Quantitative Aptitude: 20 Questions (20 Marks)
  • Numerical/ Analytical/ Logical Ability and Reasoning: 20 Questions (20 Marks)
  • English Language: 20 Questions (20 Marks)
  • General Studies: 20 Questions (20 Marks)

Minimum 30 marks for UR/EWS, 28 marks for OBC and minimum 25 marks for SC/ST candidates will be mandatory to qualify the Tier-I Exam.

Tier-II (Descriptive Exam)

Candidates qualified and shortlisted in Tier-I examination will be allowed to appear in Tier-II examination (qualifying nature). Short listing of candidates for Tier-II will be based on the marks obtained by them in Tier-I.

The Tier-II exam will be of 1 Hour duration and will consist of Translation of a passage of 500 words from opted language/ dialect to English and vice versa, carrying a maximum of 50 Marks. The qualifying marks in Tier-II are 20 out of 50.

You must keep the following documents ready in original along with their attested copies immediately after declaration of Tier-II Result.

1. Matric/ Secondary School certificate or equivalent showing name and date of birth.
2. Intermediate/ Higher Secondary (12th) certificate or equivalent, if acquired.
3. Degree or Provisional degree and mark sheet of graduation from a recognized university, if acquired.
4. OBC certificate, if applicable, from competent authority in prescribed format.
5. EWS certificate, if applicable.
6. SC/ST certificate, if applicable.
7. NOC from the present employer, if applicable.
8. Sufficient number of photographs, same as uploaded with the online application.
9. Domicile Certificate issued from the Competent Authority.
10. Certificate/ document issued from the competent authority in support of age relaxation, if applicable (Ex-servicemen discharge certificate/ Widow/ Divorcee certificate, Meritorious sportsperson certificate etc).

Tier-III (Interview/ Personality Test)

On the basis of performance & normalization of marks in Tier-I, candidates 5 times the number of vacancies will be selected for Tier-III/Interview, provided the candidate obtains minimum qualifying marks (20 out of 50) in Tier-II examination. Tier-III (Interview/ Personality Test) will carry maximum 50 marks.

Merit List and Selection:

Final merit list (result) will be prepared on the basis of combined performance in Tier-I and Tier-III exam. The final selection of the candidates will be subject to successful completion of Character & Antecedents Verification and subsequent Medical Examination.

Application Form, Important Dates and Notification

Eligible and desirous candidates are required to submit online application form for Khufiya Vibhag Security Assistant Recruitment through www.mha.gov.in up to 17th August 2025. To submit the online form, you have to complete both the Registration (Personal, Contact, Academic and other details) and Application Form Submission (Qualification details, Photo & Signature upload and Fee payment) parts.

After the registration process, preserve your Application Sequence Number (ASN) for further requirements.

Before applying online, keep ready the following details and documents:

1. Valid e-mail ID and Mobile Number.
2. Scanned copy of the recent passport size color Photograph (100-200KB) in jpg format and not older than 12 weeks. Candidates should ensure that the same photograph is used throughout this recruitment process.

Examination fee:
UR/ EWS/ OBC Male candidates – ₹ 650/- (Examination Fee ₹ 100/- + Recruitment Processing Charges ₹ 550).
All other candidates – ₹ 550 (Recruitment Processing Charges).

The fee can be paid online via SBI EPAY LITE through Debit Cards (RuPay/ Visa/ MasterCard/ Maestro), Credit Cards, Internet Banking, UPI, SBI challan etc.
