Sashastra Seema Bal has invited applications for the following 233 Vacancies of Head Constable Communication, Electrician, Veterinary and Steward. All eligible male and female candidates can apply online for the SSB Head Constable Bharti Vacancies through ssb.gov.in till 20th April 2026. SSB HC Communication, Electrician and Other Vacancies

Pay Scale and Allowances – Rs 25500-81100/- per month (Pay level 4).

The allowances include dearness allowance, ration allowance, house rent allowance and other allowances as applicable from time to time in SSB as per Government orders. Selected candidates will be covered under the Defined Contributory Pension Scheme (New Pension Scheme) or Unified Pension Scheme (UPS).

Total Number of Vacancies – 233 Posts (Group C)

SSB Head Constable Vacancy Details:

1. Head Constable (Steward) – 02 (UR-02)
2. Head Constable (Communication) – 197 (UR-87, EWS-18, OBC-55, SC-20, ST-17)

3. Head Constable (Electrician) – 29 (UR-13, EWS-02, OBC-07, SC-05, ST-02)
4. Head Constable (Veterinary) – 05 (UR-03, SC-02)

Age Limit:

HC (Communication), HC (Veterinary) and HC (Steward) – 18 to 27 Years as on application closing date.
HC (Electrician) – 18 to 25 Years as on application closing date.

Relaxation in upper age limit for SC, ST, OBC, Departmental candidates, Ex-Servicemen etc categories will be applicable as per Govt rules.

Educational and Professional Qualification:

Head Constable (Communication) – 12th Pass in Science with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognized Board; OR Must have 03 years Diploma in Electronics or Communication or Computer Science or Information Technology from a recognized Institute.

Head Constable (Electrician) – 10th Pass (Matriculation) or equivalent from a recognized Board. 02 years work experience in respective trade; OR 01 year certificate course from a recognized Industrial Training Institute or Vocational Institute with at least 01 year experience in respective trade; OR 02 years Diploma from a recognized Industrial Training Institute in respective trade or similar trade; AND have to pass the trade test.

Head Constable (Veterinary) – 12th Pass with Science and Biology as main subject from a recognized Board and 02 years Diploma Course in Veterinary and Livestock Development or Veterinary Stock Assistant Course or Animal Husbandry Course from an institute recognized by the Central or State Government.

Head Constable (Steward) – 12th Pass from a recognized Board. Diploma in Catering and Kitchen Management of minimum 02 years duration from an Institute recognized by the Central or State Government. Working experience of minimum 01 year as a Steward in a minimum 100 bedded hospital or institution recognized by the Central or State Government.

SSB HC Selection Process, Physical and Exam Pattern

The selection process for SSB Head Constable posts includes Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Physical Standard Test (PST), Written Exam, Skill Test (only for Electrician), Documentation and Medical Examination. Candidates whose applications are found to be in order will be issued Admit Card to appear in the recruitment process at SSB locations.

The different stages of the test conducted by the SSB Board of Officers for the selection of Head Constable Communication/ Electrician/ Veterinary/ Steward are as follows:

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

After biometric attendance at the recruitment venue, all eligible candidates will have to undergo Physical Efficiency Test (PET) which will consist of running. PET will be of qualifying nature only and no marks will be awarded for it. Ex-Servicemen are exempted from PET.

The Physical Efficiency Test for SSB Head Constable (Communication), Head Constable (Electrician), Head Constable (Veterinary) and Head Constable (Steward) will be conducted by the Board of Officers at various locations as per the criteria given below:

Male candidates – 1.6 Kms run within 06 Minutes 30 Seconds.
Female candidates – 800 Meters run within 04 Minutes.

Physical Standard Test (PST)

Candidates declared qualified in PET will have to undergo Physical Standard Test (PST) which will include measurement of height, chest and weight. The PST details for SSB Head Constable (Communication), Head Constable (Electrician), Head Constable (Veterinary) and Head Constable (Steward) for Male/Female candidates are given below.

Weight (for all posts/ categories) – Proportionate to height and age as per the annexure given along with the recruitment notification.

Written Examination (CBT)

Candidates declared qualified in PET and PST will be allowed to appear in the Written Exam (Computer based Common Entrance Test). The written exam (CBT) for SSB Head Constable (Communication), Head Constable (Electrician), Head Constable (Veterinary) and Head Constable (Steward) will consist of one paper of 03 Hours duration.

The question paper will have two parts- Part I and Part II and will carry a maximum of 150 Marks and will contain a total of 150 objective type questions based on General Knowledge, Maths, Reasoning, General English/ Hindi and Technical Subject.

Part I – 50 Marks (General Knowledge, Maths, Reasoning and General English/ Hindi).
Part II – 100 Marks (Technical Subject).

To qualify in the written exam, it’s required to score minimum 50% Marks for GEN/ EWS/ OBC/ Ex-SM and 45% Marks for SC/ ST candidates.

Skill Test (For HC Electrician Only)

Skill Test for the post of Head Constable (Electrician) will be conducted by Board of Officers detailed by FHQ SSB. For this, a merit list of up to 20 times the number of vacancies (category wise) will be prepared after completion of written exam.

The skill test will be of maximum 50 Marks and the minimum qualifying marks for all candidates including SC/ ST/ OBC/ EWS/ Ex-Serviceman category will be 60%. The trade test will be of qualifying nature. No marks of the trade test will be included in preparing the final merit list of HC (Electrician).

Documentation and Medical Examination

Candidate declared qualified will have to go through documentation (document verification) before Medical Examination. For this, a list of up to 03 times the number of vacancies (category wise) will be prepared on the basis of merit of the written exam. In the documentation process you will have to produce all original documents/ certificates in support of details as submitted in the application form.

The required documents/ certificates in original with self-attested copies are as follows:

1. Educational certificates and marks sheets.
2. Degree/ Diploma/ Certificate course (as applicable).
3. Experience certificate (as applicable).
4. Date of birth certificate.
5. SC/ ST/ OBC/ EWS certificate (as applicable).
6. Bonafide/ Permanent residence/ Domicile certificate.
7. Discharge certificate in case of Ex-serviceman.
8. No objection certificate in case of employed person.
9. Height and chest relaxation certificate (if applicable).
10. Other Documents/ certificates (as required).

Thereafter, candidates declared qualified in Document Verification will have to undergo Detailed Medical Examination (DME). The candidates will be medically examined by Medical Examination Board to assess their physical & medical fitness as prescribed in the Medical Standards. Candidates declared unfit during DME will be allowed to undergo Review Medical Examination (RME).

Finally, for selection as SSB Head Constable (Communication, Electrician, Veterinary and Steward), post and category wise final merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in Written Exam.

Application Form, Important Dates and Notification

Eligible and interested candidates are required to submit online application form for the SSB Head Constable Recruitment through the website recruitment.ssb.gov.in or applyssb.com up to 20th April 2026. Before applying online, keep ready scanned images of your photo and signature to upload along with the online form. You can apply for only one post.

For submitting online application form for SSB Head Constable (Communication), Head Constable (Electrician), Head Constable (Veterinary) and Head Constable (Steward), you have to complete all the three parts as follows:

Part 1 (Registration) – Fill the post name, candidate name, father and mother name, date of birth, category, Aadhar number, Identification marks, mobile number, email ID, educational details, address etc, to complete the registration process.

Part 2 (Photo and Signature Upload) – Upload photograph with 100 x 120 pixels size (4 kb to 12 kb) and signature with 140 x 60 pixels size (4 kb to 12 kb) in JPG format.

Part 3 (Fee Payment) – Pay the exam fee through Net Banking/ Credit Card/ Debit Card or UPI.

Not down and preserve your registration or application number and password for login to the system to check the recruitment updates. After successful submission of online form, take printout of the system generated application form for proof of candidature. The printout of online application form or any other document is not required to be sent to SSB.

Examination fee – UR, EWS and OBC candidates will have to pay Rs 100/- as exam fee through Net Banking/ Credit Card/ Debit Card or UPI. SC, ST, Ex-Serviceman and Female candidates are not required to submit the exam fee.
