Indian Navy has invited applications from 10th pass candidates for enrolment as Agniveer (MR) for 01/2027 and 02/2027 batch through INET. All eligible unmarried male and female candidates can apply online for the Indian Navy MR Bharti Vacancies (Steward, Chef and Hygienist) through joinindiannavy.gov.in up to 06th Apr 2026. Indian Navy Agniveer (MR) Recruitment 2027 Batch
As per the Agnipath Scheme, the Agniveers will be enrolled in the Indian Navy for a period of 04 years. On completion of 04 years of service, based on organization’s requirements and policies, Agniveers will be offered an opportunity to apply for Permanent enrolment (Regular cadre) in the Indian Navy as Sailor MR (Metric Recruit).
The applications for regular cadre will be considered in centralized manner based on objective criteria including performance during their 04 years engagement period. Up to 25% of each specific batch of Agniveers will be enrolled in Indian Navy for further re-engagement as Sailor (Regular Cadre).

Total Number of Vacancies – The distribution of trade-wise vacancies for Agniveer MR 01/2027 and 02/2027 batch for male and female will be decided based on service requirement. There is no reservation of vacancies for the candidates from SC/ ST category.
Pay, Allowances and Allied Benefits – Agniveer (MR) will be paid a package of Rs 30000 /month with a fixed yearly increment. In addition, risk and hardship, dress and travel allowances will be paid.
Indian Navy MR Job Specifications:
Steward – Required to serve food in the officers’ messes as waiters, housekeeping, accounting of funds, wine and stores, preparation of menu etc. In addition, Steward will also be allotted other duties as per Service requirement.
Chef – Required to prepare food as per menu (both vegetarian and non-vegetarian including handling of meat products) and accounting of ration. In addition, Chef will also be allotted other duties as per Service requirement.
Hygienist – Required to clean washroom, shower spaces and other areas. In addition, Hygienist will also be allotted other duties as per Service requirement.

Eligibility Criteria (Age, Qualification and Standards)
Age Limit:
MR 01/2027 Batch – 17½ to 22 years on the day of enrolment i.e. Candidate should be born between 01 Dec 2004 and 31 May 2009 (both dates inclusive).
MR 02/2027 Batch – 17½ to 22 years on the day of enrolment i.e. Candidate should be born between 01 May 2005 and 31 Oct 2009 (both dates inclusive).
Educational Qualification – 10th Pass (Matriculation) with minimum 50% marks in aggregate from the Boards of School Education recognized by Ministry of Education, Govt of India.
Physical and Medical Standards:
Height – Minimum 157 Cms for Male and Female candidates.
Weight – Proportionate to height and age as per medical standard.
Visual Standards (Chef/ Steward/ Hygienist):
Uncorrected Vision – 6/12, 6/12
Corrected Vision – 6/6, 6/6
Colour Perception – CP Pass
The candidate must be in good physical and mental health, free from any defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of duties both ashore and afloat under peace as well as war conditions. Candidates are advised to get their ears cleaned for wax, and tartar removed from teeth prior to medical examination.
Tattoos – Permanent body tattoos are only permitted on inner face of forearms i.e. from inside of elbow to the wrist and on the reversed side of palm/ back (dorsal) side of hand. Permanent body tattoos on any other part of the body is not acceptable and candidate will be barred from recruitment.

Navy MR Selection Process, Syllabus and Physical Test
The selection process for Indian Navy Agniveer (MR) includes 02 Stages i.e. Stage-I (Indian Navy Entrance Test or INET) and Stage-II (Shortlisting, PFT, Written Examination and Recruitment Medical Examination), as given in detail below.
Indian Navy Entrance Test (INET)
Candidates whose applications are found in order will be issued Admit Card (Call up Letter) indicating date, time and place for Stage-I (Indian Navy Entrance Test or INET). Admit Card will be made available to download through official website about 01 week before the online exam scheduled to be conducted during May 2026.
The shortlisting of candidates for Stage-II tests will be based on marks obtained in the Indian Navy Entrance Test (INET). Shortlisting will be carried out in state wise manner. The cut off marks for shortlisting for the Stage-II tests may vary from state to state as vacancies have been allocated in a state wise manner.
Exam Pattern and Syllabus – The computer-based exam will be of 30 Minutes duration and will consist of total 50 objective type multiple choice questions (01 mark each). The question paper will comprise of 02 sections i.e. Science & Mathematics and General Awareness. The level of the question paper will be of 10th standard. There will be Negative Marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer given by candidates.
- Science and Mathematics: 25 Questions (25 Marks)
- General Awareness: 25 Questions (25 Marks)
Candidates are required to pass in all sections as well as in aggregate. Syllabus with Sample Question Paper for the computer based online exam is given on: Indian Navy MR Syllabus and Exam Sample Question Paper.
Sponsor candidates and NCC C Certificate holders will be exempted from Stage-I and will not be required to appear at the INET exam centre. These candidates will be issued call-up letter directly for Stage-II process based on eligibility.

INET Result and Shortlisting
The shortlisting of candidates for MR Stage-II (PFT, Written exam and Medical examination) will be based on marks obtained in Stage-I (INET). Based on the INET Result, candidates will be shortlisted separately for Stage-II of Agniveer MR 01/2027 and 02/2027 batch. Shortlisting will be carried out in state wise manner. The cut off marks for shortlisting for the next stage of selection process may vary from state to state as vacancies have been allocated in a state wise manner.
In cases where candidates having similar percentage exceed the shortlisting quota for a particular state, the shortlisting will be carried out based on DoB i.e. candidates with earlier DoB will be given priority.
Candidates shortlisted in Stage-I will be issued Call up Letters (Admit Card) indicating date, time and place for Stage-II (PFT, Written exam and Medical examination). Admit Card will be made available to download through official website as per the tentative schedule for Navy MR 01/2027 and 02/2027 Batch given below. Stage-II tests will be conducted at the designated Indian Navy’s centres and Aadhar Card will be mandatory to appear in the tests.
Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
Qualifying in Physical Fitness Test is mandatory for selection. Proficiency in sports, swimming and extra curricular activities is desirable. The PFT for Agniveer (MR) will be conducted as follows:
- Male Candidates: The PFT for male candidates will consist of 1.6 Kms run within 06 Minutes 30 Seconds, 20 Squats (Uthak Baithak), 15 Push-ups and 15 Bent Knee Sit-ups.
- Female Candidates: The PFT for female candidates will consist of 1.6 Kms run within 08 Minutes, 15 Squats (Uthak Baithak), 10 Push-ups and 10 Bent Knee Sit-ups.
Written Examination
Candidates qualified in Physical Fitness Test will have to go through Written Examination of 30 Minutes duration. The question paper will consist of total 50 objective type questions (01 mark each) based on Science & Mathematics and General Awareness. The question paper will be bilingual (Hindi & English) and the standard will be that of 10th level.
Candidates are required to pass in all sections as well as in aggregate. The Indian Navy reserves the right to determine the pass marks in each section and in aggregate.

Medical Examination
Recruitment Medical Examination will be carried out for candidates who qualify Stage-II Written exam. Candidates qualifying recruitment medical examination will be considered for MR Merit List. Candidates found medically UNFIT will be allowed to appeal against its findings, if they so desire, at allocated Military Hospital within a maximum period of 05 days.
The medical examination will be conducted by authorized military doctors as per medical standards prescribed in current regulations applicable on entry.
Provisional Select List
Indian Navy MR Merit list will be prepared on all India basis in order of performance in Stage-II Written exam subject to qualification in Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and Medical Examination. Agniveer (MR) 01/2027 and 02/2027 Result (merit list) will be published on candidate’s dashboard on official website.
Finally, all selected candidates will be called at INS Chilka for final medical examination and verification before commencement of training. The candidates will be medically examined by authorized military doctors to assess their physical and medical fitness as per Medical Standards. All selected candidates will have to produce the self-attested certificates along with all original certificates in support of the details submitted at the time of filling online application.
The training for Agniveer MR 01/2027 batch will tentatively commence in Dec 2026 and for 02/2027 batch in May 2027 at INS Chilka (Odisha) followed by Professional training in the allotted trade in various Naval Training Establishments. Branch/ Trade will be allocated as per the requirement of Service.

Application form, Important Dates and Notification
Eligible and desirous candidates are required to apply online for the Indian Navy MR Recruitment for 01/2027 and 02/2027 Batch through the website www.joinindiannavy.gov.in from 14th Mar to 06th Apr 2026. Keep ready scanned copies of color photograph, 10th mark sheet & certificate, domicile certificate etc required documents to upload online with the application form.

The photograph should be front portrait in light background without head gear except for Sikhs (not taken before Mar 2026). The photograph is to be taken with candidate holding a black slate in front of his/her chest with his/her name and date of photograph taken, clearly written on it with white chalk in capital letters. Live photograph will be captured through the webcam during filling of application form.
After successful submission of online application take a copy of the system generated form for further requirements. You’ll have to carry all original certificates, mark sheet, domicile certificate, NCC certificate (if held) and call letter/ admit card at all stages of recruitment process.
Examination fee – You will have to pay Rs 550/- (Rupees Five hundred fifty only) plus 18% GST during the online application through online mode by using Net Banking or Visa/ Master/ RuPay Credit/ Debit Card/ UPI.
