Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has initiated the recruitment process for the selection of Constable (Technical & Tradesmen and Pioneer). The process includes Physical Efficiency Test, Physical Standards Test, Computer Based Test, Trade Test, DV and Medical Examination. CRPF Constable Selection Process, PET, PST, CBT, Trade Test, DV, Exam Syllabus and Centres for Technical/ Tradesman/ Pioneer (Driver, Cook, Bugler, Motor Mechanic Vehicle, Safai Karmchari etc) are given below.
CRPF Constable (Technical & Tradesman and Pioneer) 2026
Candidates whose applications are found correct will be issued Admit Card for Constable (Technical & Tradesman and Pioneer) Recruitment process. Candidates applied for any of the trades Driver, Cook, Bugler, Motor Mechanic Vehicle, Safai Karmchari, Water Carrier, Washerman, Barber, Tailor, Brass Band, Mali, Carpenter, Cobbler, Painter, Pipe Band, Hair Dresser, Mason and Electrician will have to report for the selection process as per the date, time and center given in the Admit Card.
After verification of biometric, photo and signature, candidates will have to go through the various stages of CRPF Constable Recruitment Process in the following order:
1. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

3. Computer Based Test (CBT)
4. Trade Test

Admit Card (Call letter) for different stages of CRPF Constable Selection Process like PET, PST, CBT, Trade Test, Document Verification and DME/RME will be released on the official recruitment website about 1 week before the exam date.
Admit Card for any stage of the recruitment process will not be sent by post. The facility to download the admit card will be provided on the website rect.crpf.gov.in. For any queries related to Admit Card of any stage, you can contact helpline number 011-26160255 on working days (Monday to Friday, between 10 AM to 06 PM).
You must carry 02 color printouts of the Admit Card to the Exam Centre with at least 02 passport size recent color photographs and any original valid Photo-ID proof (Aadhaar Card/ Voter ID Card/ Driving License/ PAN Card/ Passport/ Any other photo ID Card issued by the Central/ State Govt) having the Date of Birth as printed on the admit card.

CRPF Constable Selection Procedure 2026 (Detailed)
You will have to report to the venue on the date and time as mentioned in the Admit Card along with all the required documents. In case of non-submission of relevant documents, you will not be allowed to participate in the recruitment process.
PET and PST will be conducted through Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID) and digital equipment.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Firstly, all the male and female candidates will have to go through the following Physical Efficiency Test (PET) event (Race). PET will be only qualifying in nature and will not carry any marks.
Candidates appearing for Technical & Tradesman (CT/Driver, CT/Motor Mechanic Vehicle, CT/Gardner, CT/Painter, CT/Carpenter, CT/Brass Band, CT/Pipe Band, CT/Cobbler, CT/Tailor & CT/Bugler) will have to clear PET (Race) within the time limit given below:
Male – 05 Kms in 24 minutes
Female – 1.6 Kms in 8.30 minutes
Candidates appearing for Technical & Tradesman (CT/Cook/Water Carrier, CT/Barber & CT/Hair Dresser, CT/Washer man & CT/Washer women & CT/Safai Karmchari) will have to clear PET (Race) within the time limit given below:
Male – 1.6 Kms in 10 minutes
Female – 1.6 Kms in 12 minutes
Candidates appearing for Pioneer Wing (CT/Mason and CT/Electrician) will have to clear PET (Race) within the time limit given below:
Male – 1.6 Kms in 09 minutes.
Candidates who fail to qualify in the race will be eliminated from the recruitment process by giving them a rejection slip stating the reason. No appeal will be entertained in respect of PET (Race).

Physical Standard Test (PST)
Candidates qualified in PET will have to undergo Physical Standard Test (PST). The Physical Standards (Height, Chest and Weight) for CRPF Constable (Driver, Cook, Bugler, Motor Mechanic Vehicle, Safai Karmchari, Water Carrier, Washerman, Barber, Tailor, Brass Band, Mali, Carpenter, Cobbler, Painter, Pipe Band, Hair Dresser, Mason and Electrician) will be measured as follows:

UR/OBC/SC – Male: 170 Cms and Female: 157 Cms.
Garhwalis, Kumaonis, Dogras, Marathas and candidates belonging to the States/UTs of Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh – Male: 165 Cms and Female: 155 Cms.
Candidates from the North Eastern States of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim & Tripura – Male: 162.5 Cms and Female: 152.5 Cms.
ST Candidates – Male: 162.5 Cms and Female: 150 Cms.

Computer Based Test (CBT)
Candidates declared qualified in PET and PST will be called to appear in Computer Based Test (CBT) which will consist of an online written examination carrying a maximum of 100 Marks. The centre/city of CBT will be decided according to the number of candidates qualified in PET and PST. CRPF Constable CBT exam will be of 02 Hours duration and will consist of a total of 100 Objective Multiple-Choice type questions (01 mark each).
The question paper for Constable (Technical & Tradesman and Pioneer) posts will be divided into 04 parts consisting of questions based on General Intelligence, Reasoning, General Knowledge, General Awareness, Elementary Mathematics and English/Hindi, as follows:
- Part A (General Intelligence and Reasoning): 25 Questions (25 Marks)
- Part B (General Knowledge and General Awareness): 25 Questions (25 Marks)
- Part C (Elementary Mathematics): 25 Questions (25 Marks)
- Part D (English/Hindi): 25 Questions (25 Marks)
The CBT will be conducted in English and Hindi only. The questions in the CBT will be of Matriculation (10th) level. There will be Negative Marking of 0.25 Marks for each wrong answer.
Cut off marks for qualifying in Computer Based Test (CBT):
CT (Technical & Tradesmen) – UR: 30%, EWS/OBC: 25% and All Other Categories: 20%.
CT (Pioneer Wing) – UR: 35% and EWS/OBC/SC/ST: 33%.
CRPF Constable CBT Syllabus: The detailed syllabus for the Technical & Tradesman and Pioneer Examination is as follows:
General Intelligence and Reasoning – Analytical aptitude and ability to observe and distinguish patterns will be tested through questions principally of non-verbal type. This component may include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, spatial visualization, spatial orientation, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning and figural classification, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding etc.
General Knowledge and General Awareness – Question in this component will be aimed at testing the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of every day observations and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person.
The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic Science, General Policy, Indian Constitution, Scientific Research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.
Elementary Mathematics – This paper will include questions on problems relating to Number Systems, Computation of whole numbers, Decimals and Fractions and relationship between numbers, Fundamental arithmetical operations, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Averages, Interest, Profit and loss, Discount, Mensuration, Time and Distance, Ratio and Time, Time and work etc.
English/Hindi – Candidate’s ability to understand basic English/Hindi and his/her basic comprehension would be tested.
Trade Test
Candidates declared qualified in CBT will be called for Trade Test. The Trade/Skill test will be conducted through practical assessment and will be qualifying in nature. The practical Trade/Skill Test will be of maximum 50 marks and to qualify the candidate must score 20 out of 50 marks. During the Trade Test, the candidate will be asked to perform any work related to the particular trade/post for which he/she has appeared/ applied.
The details of the Trade Test for all trades/posts are as follows:
Driver – Knowledge of driving trade. Handling, driving, parking & maintenance of light & heavy vehicles etc.
Motor Mechanic Vehicle – Knowledge in automobiles fitter/motor mechanic trade. Handling of tools, etc.
Bugler – Playing, handling and maintenance of Bugle.
Tailor – Taking measurement of persons, cutting / stitching of Terry Cotton uniform/ Civil Clothes. Cutting / stitching of warm clothing/ uniform etc.
Cobbler – Having Knowledge of his Trade. Polishing of Shoes, handling of tools, cutting of leather, repair and stitching of shoes. Making of new shoes.
Carpenter – Handling tools, cutting of wood, fitting, polishing and finishing of materials, Knowledge of fitting of doors and windows / fixing of glass panes on windows. Able to make wooden boxes, racks and to make a timber truss.
Painter – Knowledge of colours, paints, shades, painting of sign boards, painting and drawing/ knowledge of spray painting of motor vehicle etc. Knowledge of colour scheme by mixing different paints/ distempering. Able to write letters neatly on banners and boards. Able to work out quantity of paints required for wood painting and CGI sheet painting.
Gardener (Mali) – Knowledge of Plantation, maintenance of plants, Knowledge of seeds and their seasons, fertilizer and manures.
Brass Band – Knowledge of playing Brass Band instruments.
Pipe Band – Knowledge of playing Pipe Band instruments.
Cook – Cooking of Chapati & Rice / Vegetable / Dal / Sambhar / Idli etc. for 100 men, cooking of Meat / Fish /Egg/ Kheer etc.
Water Carrier – Washing of utensil, kneading of Atta for making chapattis for about 100 men and cutting of vegetable etc.
Barber/ Hair Dresser (Female) – Handling of tools, hair cutting and shaving of Men for Barber and Handling of tools, hair cutting of Mahillas for Hair Dresser (Female).
Washer man/woman – Washing of clothes, Ironing of Khaki cotton Uniform, woolen and TC Uniform.
Safai Karmachari – Sweeping of floors, open area and cleaning of toilets, bathrooms etc.
Mason (Pioneer) – Knowledge of Masonry work, handling tools, Mixing of cement, Calculation of area of wall/pillar for specific construction.
Electrician (Pioneer) – Knowledge of Electric work. Fitting of MCB, fitting of plug/bulbs/ tube lights/ holders, supply of 11000 volts and 440 volts, preparation of earthing panel, fitting of generator set. Use of copper and aluminium wire.
Document Verification (DV)
Candidate declared qualified in PET, PST, CBT and Trade/Skill test will be called for Document Verification (DV). In the documentation process, you will have to produce all your original documents along with their self-attested photocopies while reporting at the recruitment centre.
The list of required documents/ certificates in original (along with self-attested copies) is as follows:
1. Matriculation/Secondary Examination Certificate to prove age, name and educational qualification.
2. Domicile Certificate/Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) issued by the competent authority.
3. Certificate from serving defence personnel in the prescribed format.
4. Undertaking in the prescribed format from Ex-servicemen candidates.
5. Caste Certificate (as applicable) in the prescribed format from the candidates seeking reservation/age relaxation.
6. Certificate in the prescribed format from candidates who wish to avail relaxation in height/chest measurement.
7. Certificate from District Collector/District Magistrate in respect of dependent applicants of riot victims.
8. Driving license of candidates who have applied for the post of CT/Driver.
9. ITI Certificate/experience certificate of candidates who have applied for the post of CT/Motor Mechanic Vehicle (Fitter).
Detailed Medical Examination (DME)
After the completion of DV, all shortlisted candidates will be put through Detailed Medical Examination (DME). The candidates will be medically examined by the Medical Officer/ Medical Board constituted by the CRPF to assess their physical and medical fitness. Medical tests (X-ray and laboratory) will be conducted only for those candidates who are found fit after the initial medical examination.
Candidates declared UNFIT during Detailed Medical Examination (DME) will be allowed to undergo Review Medical Examination (RME) with their written consent.
Candidates must not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes. They must be in good mental and physical/bodily health for duties in all places including high altitude and be fit to serve in border areas with extreme climatic conditions and must be free from any defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of the duties.
Final Selection – Post, trade and category wise final selection list (result) will be prepared in order of merit (marks obtained in CBT exam) after completion of Review Medical Examination. Selection for the post of Constable (Technical & Tradesman) will be on States/UTs basis, whereas for the post of Constable (Pioneer) selection will be on All India basis.
