AOC Recruitment Tradesman and Fireman 1793 Posts 2023

Army Ordnance Corps Centre Secunderabad invited applications for filling up the following 1793 Defence Civilian Vacancies of Tradesman Mate and Fireman at various Units/ Depots. Eligible Indian Citizens may apply online for the AOC Fireman Tradesman Bharti Vacancies through the website aocrecruitment.gov.in up to 26th Feb 2023. AOC Centre Secunderabad Tradesman Fireman Exam

Pay Scale:
Tradesman Mate – Rs 18000-56900 as per 7th CPC Pay Matrix level-1.
Fireman – Rs 19900-63200 as per 7th CPC Pay Matrix level-2.

The Group C Posts of Tradesman and Fireman will be filled at various Ordnance Depot/ Units located in the state of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Sikkim as per the vacancy details below.

Total Number of Vacancies – 1793 Posts

Tradesman: 1249 (UR-506, EWS-124, OBC-337, SC-187, ST-93)


Fireman: 544 (UR-222, EWS-54, OBC-147, SC-81, ST-40)
The vacancies reserved for PwBD/ Ex-Servicemen/ Meritorious Sports Persons will be filled up first and adjusted against respective vacancies earmarked caste wise.

  • Eastern (Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Manipur): Fireman-69 and Tradesman-139
  • Western (Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana): Fireman-71 and Tradesman-430
  • Northern (Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh): Fireman-119 and Tradesman-181
  • Southern (Maharashtra, Telangana and Tamil Nadu): Fireman-111 and Tradesman-206
  • South Western (Rajasthan and Gujarat): Fireman-89 and Tradesman-164
  • Central West (Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand): Fireman-39 and Tradesman-66
  • Central East (West Bengal, Jharkhand and Sikkim): Fireman-46 and Tradesman-63

Age Limit – 18 to 25 years as on application closing date. Relaxation in upper age limit for SC, ST, OBC, Ex-Serviceman and other categories will be applicable as per Govt rules.

Educational Qualification – 10th Pass (Matriculation) or equivalent qualification from a Govt recognized Board. Certificate in any Trade from a recognized Industrial Training Institute is desirable for Tradesman Mate post.

AOC Selection Process, Physical and Exam Pattern

Army Ordnance Corps selection process consists of Stage-1 (Physical Endurance Test) and Stage-2 (Written Exam). The recruitment tests will be conducted at various centres (see the list below). Date and time for the Physical test/ Written exam of Tradesman/ Fireman post will be intimated through Admit Card (Call letter) only to individuals whose applications are found correct in all respects after scrutiny by AOC Centre Secunderabad.

In case of large number of applications received, candidates will be shortlisted in ratio of 1:75 for the recruitment tests on the basis of marks obtained in the prescribed minimum educational qualification. The venue and schedule of Recruitment Rally will be indicated in the Admit Card sent through registered email ID and candidates will have to report at the allotted Exam Centre accordingly.

Physical Test (Qualifying)

Tradesman Mate:
Physical Endurance Test (PET) for the post of Tradesman (Mate) male/ female will be qualifying in nature. Candidates are required to pass the following tests:

Male Candidates – 1.5 Km Run within 06 Minutes and Carrying a weight 50 Kgs to a distance of 200 Meters within 100 seconds.
Female Candidates – 1.5 Km Run within 08 Minutes 26 Seconds and Carrying a weight 50 Kgs to a distance of 200 Meters within 03 Minutes 45 Seconds (225 Seconds).

Fireman:
Physical Measurements Test (PMT) – Height: 165 Cms (relaxation of 2.5 Cms for ST candidates), Chest: 81.5-85 Cms and Weight: 50 Kgs.

Physical Endurance Test – The PET for the post of Fireman will be qualifying in nature. Candidates are required to pass the following tests:

  • 1.6 Kms Run (Within 06 Minutes for male candidates and within 08 Minutes 26 Seconds for female candidates).
  • Carrying a man (Fireman lift) of 63.5 Kgs to 183 Meters distance within 96 Seconds.
  • Clearing 2.7 Meters wide ditch landing on both feet (long jump).
  • Climbing 03 Meters vertical rope using hands and feet.

Written Examination

Candidates qualified in Physical Endurance Test will only be called for the OMR based written exam. The written exam question paper for Tradesman and Fireman posts will be of 10th Standard and will be bilingual (English and Hindi). Negative marking of 0.25 marks will be applicable for each wrong answer.

The written exam will be of 02 Hours duration and will consist of total 150 objective type questions (01 Mark each) of maximum 150 Marks as per the pattern below:

  • General Intelligence and Reasoning: 50 Questions (50 Marks)
  • Numerical Aptitude: 25 Questions (25 Marks)
  • General English: 25 Questions (25 Marks)
  • General Awareness: 50 Questions (50 Marks)

For selection, post and category wise final merit will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained by candidates in written examination subject to qualifying the medical fitness test, police verification, education and caste verification. On final selection, the candidate will be liable for All India Service Liabilities.

AOC Syllabus (Tradesman and Fireman Posts)

General Intelligence and Reasoning – It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. The test will include questions on analogies and differences, space visualization, problem solving analysis, judgement, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship, concepts, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series etc.

The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate’s abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions etc.

General English – Candidates understanding of English language and its correct usage, vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage etc.

Numerical Aptitude – The paper will include questions on problems relating to Number systems, computation whole numbers, Decimals and Fractions and relationship between numbers, fundamental arithmetical operations, percentages, ratio and proportion, averages, interest, profit and loss, discount, use of tables and graphs, mensuration, time and distance, ratio and time, time and work etc.

General Awareness – Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around them and its applications to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of currents events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected out of educated personnel.

The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to sports, history, culture, geography, economic scene, general policy including Indian constitution and scientific research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.

Recruitment Exam Centres

Assam – Narangi (Guwahati).
Jammu & Kashmir – Jindra and Kundru.
Madhya Pradesh – Jabalpur.
Maharashtra – Pune (Dehu Road), Pune (Talegaon Dabhade) and Pulgaon (Wardha).
Punjab – Bhatinda, Pathankot, Baddowal, Unchi Bassi, Suranussi (Jalandhar) and Dappar.
Rajasthan – Banar (Jodhpur), Lalgarh Ratan (Ganganagar), Kanaser (Bikaner) and Bharatpur.
Tamil Nadu – Avadi (Chennai).
Telangana – Secunderabad.
Uttar Pradesh – Agra, Kanpur and Allahabad.
West Bengal – Silligudi and Panagarh.

Due to various administrative reasons, all of the above mentioned exam centres may not be nominated to conduct Recruitment Rally. Exact details will be available to the candidates while filling up the online application form.

Online Application form, Important Dates and Notification

Eligible and interested candidates are required to apply online for the AOC Recruitment Civilian Defence Vacancies through the official website aocrecruitment.gov.in from 06th Feb to 26th Feb 2023. Before applying online, keep ready a valid mobile number, email id and scanned copies of qualification, photograph, signature, ID proof etc for uploading with the application form.

You are advised to apply for only one post to which you prefer to appear, if shortlisted. After submitting the online application form, take printout of the system generated form and e-acknowledgement for future references. The printout of online form or any other certificates are not required to be sent to AOC Centre Secunderabad.

Required Documents – Candidates are required to upload scanned copies of the following documents:

  • ID Proof (Aadhar Card/ PAN Card/ Voter ID/ Passport, size 30-50 KB).
  • Latest passport size photograph (not more than 03 months old from the date of application and the face of the candidate should be clearly visible with both the ears and should cover atleast 70% of the photo, size 05-25 Kb).
  • Signature with a black pen on a white paper in JPEG format (size 05-25 Kb).
  • Class 10th passing certificate, issued by Matriculation board or equivalent from a recognized board any other such documents as per General Instructions on the website (only in JPEG/JPG format of size 30-50 KB each).
  • Supporting documents/ certificates for Caste, Category, Ex-Serviceman (Discharge Book) and Sports Quota Person (as applicable).
